Can someone explain please... my desktop 8800gt has 256 bit rate Memory Interface Width. My friend told me that increased bit rate has better performance. I can't find any bit rate for HD 5870 other than 128 bit.

Is our G73 HD5870 128bit is still better than other video cards? Thank you very much. (sorry for comparing to my desktop but I just want to know regarding bit rate)

Generally it's true. But it's affected by speed and the memory controller.

The memory controller on AMD is better than nVidia atm and it can handle higher clock speeds.

So a 128 bit GDDR5 on AMD is faster than nVidia 192 bit GDDR5 atm. For the 460M to equal the HD5870M, you have to overclock it a lot, but seems 460M can handle it. But I can clock mine to 1200 :p
    - It's a combination of speed and memory bandwidth.

The HD6xxx GDDR5 is clocked at 1,600 stock. That's faster than any HD5xxx overclocked I've seen. Yep, STOCK @ 1600...
    - HD5xxx stock @ 1200. Overclock I've seen around 1400.

Mostly yes but in DX11 the 460M GTX performs slightly better.
    Both are really good cards.

I hope new ATI driver package will put everything in it's places. I heard that 10.10 drivers will increase 5870 DX11 performance.

yes, The 460M performs slightly better in DX11 but it is still quite unplayable in that mode.

Only in tessellation. But that seems to be the only thing people are focusing on, including lazy developers who just want to slap DX11 onto their console port.

I have a G73-b1 that I bought 2 weeks ago. There was a few things at first that really pissed me off. I swapped out 1 500gb hd and put in 80gb Intel ssd. I tried for a couple days to get the recovery dvds on the ssd but it was mission imposable. Asus are real dinks for not letting me do that. So I installed ultimate
and its a really quick laptop.
I used Gpu-z to take some temperature readings and it is 65 degrees as of now.
Yesterday I ran 3Dmark06 on max resolution I think about 11900 and on default resolution it was almost 13000. The max temperature during testing was 74.5 degrees. Is this about right for this machine? I use the laptop a a lot lying down and on my chest. I cant really tell if I am blocking air intake I see some vents on the bottom but maybe it get air elsewhere also?
Does the G73jw run that much cooler than g73jh? From what I have read so far it sounds like a lot of excuses to put the 460M in the same category as the 5870.
