maybe it is just me ...when i hear some sound (even quiet) it annoys me
i think it is the HDD
it is making some strange sound constantly
i don't know if this is normal or not
hmm i don't know how to explain it (maybe i should do a video if i can record the sound)

    Is it loud or not?

Also what is the model of your HDD?

    Download HDTUNE

Let it benchmark and see if its making the same noises when being stressed. Sometimes you can hear the HDD working away and I have noticed strange noises when im doing certain things coming from the mobo.

Do you have standard HDD's? As SSD dont normally make a noise as there are no moving parts.

Take Dallers advice and get a S.M.A.R.T. utility - I don't know a good freeware one offhand but that will let you see if there are any errors that the drive controller sees.

If it's making more of clacking sounds than clicking, it could be a problem, but it's hard to know.

You're backing up your data, right? :D

okay i got the video uploaded
so watch in HD , raise the volume and listen at these intervals
    0:06 , 0:17 , 0:27 , 0:47 (it is more noticable in the last 2 intervals)
    <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dbne3s2nYyQ?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dbne3s2nYyQ?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='640' height="390"></embed></object>

and no man i am not backing my data :D
i can say that the HDD is without problems but that sound ooo god i hate it :D
i will do some testings about errors with the HD Tune

is that sound familiar to you guys ?
p.s do you have the v5 firmware for the seagate installed?

Yup that sounds like a lens shutter on a camera, it's the head moving and parking. When was the last time you defragged?

It's not a sound I would worry about too much, unless you're hearing it *all* the time constantly.

this is uglier than a lens shutter but yeah something similar :)
well as you can see it happens on every 10-20 seconds (this evening) and i remember hearing it before but i can't say all the time :D
i am defragmenting ocasionally with tuneup utillities (currently says that i don't need defragmantation)

and what about that firmware i asked? in chastity's signature
or that's only for fixing the clicking sound which i probably don't have it (should i bother with it? )

If you're loading a webpage or something while it makes that noise does it freeze for a second? If your system goes unresponsive while the noise happens it points to trouble, otherwise it's a normal sound as long as you don't hear it 100% of the time and a SMART utility doesn't show any problems.

I don't know about the firmware for that drive sorry. :(

You can try the firmware update to see if it fixes the problem, just look up "Seagate Momentus" in this section of the forums and one of the thread has infos on how to do it, I've uploaded a USB Boot friendly version. I can help you find it if you have any trouble, just let me know. The firmware released by Dell basically makes the drive wait longer before parking the spindle (which is probably the sound you're hearing).

Always a good idea to back up standard HDD's because although they are rock hard I have known people to have their HDD fail and lose all their data :(

Considering these things are only about 30 quid here in the UK as long as you dont lose your data it might be a SSD drive calling your name :D

EDIT: it is just the sound when you put your ear near it
no errors no hanging , no freezing
if it is normal tell so i won't bother

If you run that HDtune that I gave you on the first page and benchmark and stick your ear next to it oh yes you can hear the disc spinning inside for sure but that noise you have recorded I have not heard before I dont know if it is just interference in the recording of if that scrape scrape sound is the HDD. Unless it is clicking (like my old laptop when I threw it across the room :) ) then you dont need to worry just backup anything important onto the other HDD.
