Not so long ago i installed crysis 2 beta. The laptop would overheat and turn off. I tried reinstallling drivers, but nothing helped. At thte same time i would occasionally fail to boot and get the message that either file system or a certain file is corrupt. So i did a full re-formal of the entire computer. THe overheating stopped. However i have a suspicion the HDD's where damaged.
