I have the best buy version of the G73JH series (was it.. the B5 or somerthing?)
Anyways, lately, the live update window has been keep popping up, saying there are new updates available. I always just press 'cancel' and don't do any updates. From what I have noticed when I read several threads on this forum, people who have done updates had to deal with even more problems with their G73s, such as SOD, etc.
I, however, think that Asus wouldn't let customers know of the updates if they knew that the updates will cause problems.
Anybody did all these updates? And did you have any problem?
    Please help me.
I've been trying to search for a thread like this, but couldn't find one.
    Thank you very much.

    Oh, thank you.
But do I HAVE TO download the latest drivers?
Is there something that you recommend me to download?
My computer has been working great (Except for overheating problem. Shut itself down once while playing Napoleon:total war).
I just don't want to go out and 'look for trouble', you know?
Please let me know if there has been latest drivers that actually works.
I bought the computer back in March, 2011. Never updated anything.
Thank you again. I really appreciate it.

No, there is nothing forcing you to update. Some people update only if they notice problems with a particular driver or device, others update whenever a new version of a particular driver is released. It's entirely your choice. Sometimes a downloads page lists the changes between versions in a changelog, other times there is only cryptic information or none at all. Therefore it can be hard to make an informed decision sometimes without resorting to trial and error.

I agree. Its all a matter of opinion. depending on what kind of update it is, it could lead to problems or lead to better performance.

For example, I guess you have stock video drivers. Updating to the latest drivers has proven to give some games a 5-15% increase in performance.

When the g73 first came out, updating video drivers lead to gsod issues. Some had gsod issues even with stock drivers. This was because there was a change in clocks with the video card which lead to the whole issue in the first place. This effected certain cards only.

anyway, its up to you, but I'll let you know that the gsod issue has been resolved.

If you update ur drivers, and u gsod, check out my signature for the fix. also all the latest updates for software (creative audio, wireless network, keyboard, etc) are in my last sig.

Thank you so much, AllurGroceries and Xellon.
I'll look into those updates, and try to update the video driver at least.
    Thank you thank you

[Edit]Xellon, if you happen to see this thread again, where did you get that wallpaper for your computer? I was watching the youtube video(couldn't finish. Decided to watch the whole thing when I'm ready to update bios), and really liked your wallpaper!
