    I got my G751JY about two month ago and everything works perfectly except sometimes this laptop just freezes. When it freezes, nothing works. Task manager doesn't even show up. Only thing I can do was to use the power button to turn it off completely.

    I have no idea what caused the freezes but it is always randomly happening. Some time when I open up a folder, the laptop freezes. The other time when I close the browser, it freezes.

    It happens at rate about twice to three times a week.

    The laptop does not have any bloatwares. Just some basic applications like MS Office, chrome, and steams.

    If anyone knows the cause and solution, please reply this thread.

    Thank you in advance!

    Read my thread, had the same issue if connecting any device to the left USB ports. Every ASUS gaming laptop I have bought in the past 2 years has this issue with the left USB ports, ASUS simply cannot make a laptop with properly working left USB ports so when I showed the issue to their technicians, they took it back and gave me a refund immediately as they know the issue, it cannot be fixed:

    This thread is also from their ROG forums:

    Thank you for the reply!

    However, I do not have any devices connected to the left usb ports. I have one wireless mouse usb connected to the right usb port tho.

    Can you please try for an hour if you disconnect that mouse, would you have the freeze?

    Random freezes are typically caused by the hard drive. Do you have a SSD in there, was it pre installed or did you install it yourself. You can check for firmware updates for it. Or even resetting the OS drive to factory settings.

    A machine may have a known issue in certain circumstances but that does not stop the usual suspects from showing up too ;)

    This freeze happens very inconsistant. So it should work for an hour straight no problem. It just happens very randomly. Sometimes once a week to five times a week.

    It is factory SSD btw.

    Anyways, I guess I will have to deal with it. Not a huge problem but annoying nevertheless.

    Thank you guys for the help!

    Those are the trickest issues to diagnose, try to look for any clue for things that make it happen more often.

    Hi Simplydf,
    Hope you have sorted out the issue and I realise a couple of months have gone by but in case anyone stumbles across this and has the same issue. I has exactly the same symptoms with a J751JY - random freezes, power off to get it going again.
    If you still have a problem
    First of look in the windows event viewer and see if there is a crash entry for the time of the freeze, this will give you a crash code that you can google and tell you if its a hardware or software problem
    Next look in the windows directory for a sub directory of minidumps. See if there are any files in the directory with a timestamp of the freeze. If there are then download a minidump analyser, like the windows debug tool for v8, run the tool against the minidump. Look in the output for the word 'Bucket' it will likely tell you the module that failed. This should in turn tell you what has gone wrong, with the help of google, e.g. if it is NETIO.SYS then its a network problem, probably a driver, and may be caused by VPN software.
    Also I had a hunch it was Afterburner (even though its not being used to overclock)
    Since updating the wireless drivers (from intels website), removing the VPN software and removing Afterburner the freezes have gone. I'll give it another couple of weeks before re-installing the VPN and then Afterburner to see where the culprit is

    I have also a ASUS G752VT and i had the same problem. My laptop was freezing and restart but much worse....at every 10 or 15 minutes. From 3 days i look for a solution, i reinstal the windows 5 times and almots made me crush the laptop.

    I deleted that driver nfc_driver.sys and now everything is working good. Hope will be that in future too.

    For those who have same problems with freeze and then restart the laptop...or need to shut down by force, this is what you have to do:

    - instal freefixer from here: ;
    http://www.freefixer.com/library/file/nfc_driver.sys-214639/
    - scan the computer;
    - after is done, look the driver nfc_driver.sys;
    - select only this driver;
    - scroll up and push fix;
    - reboot the windows;

    Note: If the driver wasn't deleted, make the steps again. Be careful what you select. Don't select more drivers. This nfc_driver.sys is considered as a bad driver for windows. Some antivirus software delete him by default so don't worry that is gonna hurt your window.

    Hope this will help more brothers in ASUS platforms.

    Good luck!
