I just repasted my laptop. I checked the wires for the cmos reset, they were in there at first, but it still won't post. As soon as I supply power to it, all the light come on. I have not even hit the power button yet. I'm in the process of tearing apart again, but I don't know what I'm looking for.

Look for a cable or ribbon that is not seated properly. I had one of those, the bottom motherboard cable, the one with tape that is held in place by tape (not a latch) was loose. Any loose cable could prevent it from posting properly. Also the wifi wires can hit the CMOS reset in 2 spots. Look for the ones coming right off the wifi card and look closer to the reset itself, it may look like they are not touching at first glance but actually are upon closer inspection.

I tore it down 4 times, same issue, i get lights the instant I plug the main power into it, no video signal at all.

every screw is accounted for, connections quadrouple checked. I'm at a loss here. Normally I have no issue with this type of thing.
-
how about taking a picture of it so we can get a look.
i just put mine back together right now...so maybe i can see what your missing. -
Check to make sure the thick stiff cable that connects to the harddrive controller is all the way in. Your laptop won't start if it's not connected to HDD and when dissassembling, that cable can come loose very easily. The the stiff one that is bent into an L and connects to controller somewhere below the touchpad.

What should I take pictures of when I tear it down again?
-
Ruckus is talking about the cable on the right. Also check the one on left because mine was loose also.

yep! that's the very one!
i have a few of them around here some where..hahaha -
ok...now unplug both of those and then plug the power in and push the power button..see if it come on
-
If you have an external monitor plug it in and see if it works. If it shows a picture on that then check your lvds cable (the gray one that plugs into the lcd) for any nicks or holes in the shielding.
-
The two wide ones? I tried, and nothing.
-
Cross check the ribbons, i dissemble a UL30a a month ago, and got scared when it didn't turn on and was the ribbons, at least on that laptop it has like hatch mechanism that you need to pull up for the ribbons to fully enter and do proper contact, once i properly installed all 4 ribbons everything worked and still working like before i mess up with it.

just as abula said...you need to flip that (hard drive) cable over so you can make sure all the pins are still there and are not jammed up.
we are checking to make sure you didn't burn something out. -
is the led on the power brick green or blinking orange?
-
you know what....did you make sure to turn the tighten down screw when you pasted the cpu? i have done that a few times...lol
-
I didn't touch the CPU, mine was running cool. Pins are all fine. Power brick is fine. I think I'm going to take it to Best Buy tomorrow. I bought accidental insurance/warranty.

Thanks for all the help.
