I've repasted and then build it back again and now it doesnt power up, it even doesnt see that power is coming - no lights are lighting on the front. What could be the problem? Or have I just demaged the motherboard :((

Update: Thanks to the replies now it boots up. However it starts up instantly when I put the AC on now. It doesnt matter if the battery is on or off. And when it first starts up, I see a writing like "Intel Bios .." and then it automatically powers off, 2 secs later automatically powers up and starts normally. And i've checked it several times and it keeps doing it. I think i was unable to replug the bios batter as the time keeps reseting itself whenever i plug the power off. I think I ll deal with it a few days later, is it really a big deal?

Check to make sure the wireless card wires aren't covering the BIOS reset button. Just open up the bay and make sure. Also try pushing the little bios reset button to be sure there's no obstruction.

    Check your work again.

Did you remove the battery when you worked on it

Yes, I have removed the battery when I am working on it.
Followed the exact same steps from the disassembly video. I am not really experienced on this notebook thing but I've did the same on xbox many times and on desktop.

I ve disassemblied it again i've pressed a little black button on the back side of the motherboard, unplugged and plugged the bios battery again and now when i plug in the charge it gives light, cpu fan starts and then stops. Building it back again to see if it ll respond...

Many many thanks for the replies.

LOL! Almost the SAME thing happens to me since I RMA'd my laptop.

Except, as long as the battery is connected it doesn't happen. If power is removed for longer than 5 seconds (i.e. unplug the laptop and remove the battery for more than 5 seconds), it happens.

If you find a solution, let me know.

Really? Oh well I really feel relieved. The bios battery is a little different from the ones that I see on the desktops, I was unable to unplug it completely. So I think maybe its not plugged in correctly and may be a reason. However if it runs smoothly in this condition I can keep using it like this. I ll decide it in the following days I guess, I'll let you know if I try it, sure thing :). Changing the thread to this issue, I hope the power thing wont happen again to anybody.

    Well title doesnt change?

It almost sounds like you have one of the control data plugs or power data plug not seated completely , And this is easy to do on a system that you are not used to working with and do not know inside and out.
Also make sure that none of the little wires are not pulled out or shorted the the wire next in the line. And if you have some good contact cleaner use that to clean the contact surfaces on all the contact areas.
I use Deoxit DN5 and Deoxit Gold And this stuff does make a difference when you use it, even on new parts and contacts. You can get this at Radio Shack . And a little bit goes a long way so if you use it do not over do it.

The next time you take the system apart go over everything and make sure it is where it is supposed to be and when you put the motherboard back in give a look at the Pic's and Videos to try to make sure that you have wires and plugs in the correct place , also make sure that all the parts are setting where they are supposed to be and lined up in there holding areas .

I had an issue when I re pasted the Heat Sinks on the last G73 that I fixed for some here at the Base, and it was the part that controls the three buttons on the upper top left of the computer deck. I could not get it to start up or power anything on the system. After taking it apart two more times I saw that the part with the buttons was not set as it should be, and the wires where not as they should have been, and that was enough to cause the power not to work or come on . Next time I am going to take pic's so all can see what to do and what not to do.
As stated in one of the Videos some of the wires, ie { speaker plug } are very easy to break or damage and so are some of the others , so it is easy to not get the wires & plugs seated properly , and on the G73 I learned the hard way to take as much time as was needed to reassemble the system. Or you would be doing it again.

I know you most likely know this already , but sometimes I read something that someone post here that makes me backup and think about the process that I am going to use and that saves me extra work. Even after doing this type of work as an Engineer for over 28 years!

Thank you for your detailed response :). To start with, I have no idea with the surface cleaners, as it starts up now I don't think I ll use it but good to know it :) So I didnt know some of them, really thanks.

I've checked the wires and all of them seemed in good condition. I unplugged and replugged the bios battery. It's the same as I mentioned above, it starts automatically when I plug in the AC. I tried to put in AC to the motherboard only and it auto started again. Checked the both sides of the motherboard but was unable to see something wrong. I am going to ask this in another thread. Maybe I am still missing something, I am not really experienced :)

First of all sorry for starting a new thread but I was unable to change the title of the previous one.

So I've repasted my gpu with the help of the disassembly video and followed the exact same steps. Now it starts up instantly when I put the AC on now. It doesnt matter if the battery is on or off. And when it first starts up, I see a writing like "Intel Bios .." and then it automatically powers off, 2 secs later automatically powers up and starts normally. And i've checked it several times and it keeps doing it. The time keeps reseting itself when I unplug the battery and then plug in the AC. I've disassemblied the whole thing again and checked the bios battery, replugged it in and it seems alright. I tried to put AC into the motherboard only(the wires that are left plugged in in the video were also plugged in, didnt touch another one) and it initially started again. Shall I replace the bios battery with a new one? I am really confused, I can keep using it like this but its better to be solved. Any help would be appreciated , thanks.

Hello emreowski, thank you for pointing out this thread to me.

I disassembled the laptop a 3rd time, and the only thing I changed, beside isolating the damaged white wire (wifi antenna), was to remove the bios battery. And it worked ! *very happy* :D

Then I got the same "double boot" issue. To fix this, clear the CMOS. The "Reset to defaults" option in the bios worked for me.

    Hope this helps.

I pushed the reset button on the notebook already, but the battery was out. I also reflashed by BIOS. I'll try that and reseting it inside the BIOS.

I'll let you know if anything changes.

This is good data to know. And I should have thought of this but I did not. Thanks for posting to keep us thinking about the small details.

Well, resetting to default values from bios did not work for me, I don't want to disassembly it again for the jumper thing. I can use it in this condition. Good to know the solution anyway :).
