    Afternoon,

Randoms I had exactly the same problem while back although I think it could be something to do with me smashing my fist down over the primary hard drive....could have led to the failure of my HDD eventually as well come to think of it....

Anyway, have you tried holding down ALT/CTRL F9 to get into the factory reset? Mine would just not go into it it would just blink and keep restarting bloody thing.

Eventually I had to accept it was a done deal and start from scratch.

Hopefully you would have created the Asus Startup recovery discs? if not you can download the factory windows 7 universal installation from chastity driver page here.

no ive been just tapping f9 let me try that i dont care about erasing everything i jsut want my comp to work haha

no that dosnt seem to be working

no i didnt make any disks unfortunetly
ok so im now downloading" factory windows 7 universal installation from chastity driver page"

how do i get that to work once its downloaded im looking at 4 hours on this crappy work internet so i got time to figure it out.....i dont think the hdd is done for but i do think the was a serius file coruption

when do you press c/alt f9 at startup right... cuz its still just taking me to recovery options

Well F8 will take you into safe mode and you can try most recent working settings options thingy but normally if your boot is buggered that is what needs fixing. Depends how bad it is because mine would not even get me into safe mode to fix anything and yours sounds similiar to mine.

Im pretty sure its Ctrl or Alt and F9 to get into the factory partition but mine was also buggered so I couldn't.

The file your downloading is an ISO so you need to copy it onto a DVD and then use it to install windows using the code on the bottom of your laptop.

yep safe mode is not working nor is just anyhting that can help me and im just kicking myself in the for not making those recovery cds but hell atleast there is helpfull people on the web so thank you...coincidently i was reading some of your posts last night about your issue

so im gueess my only route right now is to download that link you posted

so all i have to do is just coppy it to the dvd burner , burn it, and im assuming it will work just like an win/7 install cd

Sounds just like when my seagate went pair shaped and eventually it did die so once your back up and running consider maybe a new HDD or an SSD run HDDtune and check its health. Dont kick yourself too hard fella those recovery discs are crap and half the time dont even work anyway its best to prepare a recovery option before the worst happens and that universal disc is handy to have around.

Yup! Once its burned and ready wack it in and restart keep hitting ESC until you get into the BIOS menu and select the Disc drive to boot from.

It will be fixed you need not worry bout that I think mine did what yours did twice the second time I was prepared and then was fine for around 6 months and then just started groaning. HDDTune will prepare you for the worst if its damaged.

This should get it back running for now anyway. I know the budget is harsh my ways too had to live off bread crumbs this month to get my SSD. Worth it though ;)

I don't see the big deal here if you don't care about losing information.

Just download an ISO of Windows 7, giant thread on NBR for that with direct links. Install Windows 7. You can download the Asus Driver CD from Asus ROG forum. You're good to go. If you got a decent download speeds, this should all take you about 4 hours in total, up and running.

There should be a repair function. I know for sure the Windows 7 direct download ISOs do have repair function.

Yes there is a repair facility the built in one is failing for him though and wont fix it. There is another I remember trying that was mentioned to me back in the day but that also failed for me too. Haven't been able to find the post.

To be honest if he does not care for losing anything in my eyes its better to wipe rather than repair or recover to a previous date.

No flashing the BIOS is onto ROM (Read Only Memory) the only way to change that is to reflash.

I fiddle about with mine far too much and so I blame myself for my problems :D

I think I am actually at a point in which it is running perfectly for once but JH is a funny old girl she can go through that time of month occasionally ;)

Im pretty sure if you reinstall from scratch and install all of the latest drivers you will be back to normal, I reinstalled occasionally before I got my SSD.

Did you burn the files from the ISO onto a disc and not the actual ISO file itself onto the disc??

You need to place the files from the ISO onto the disc, if you do not have the ability to burn an ISO to disc at your work just unpack the RaR using winrar which I did before and copy the files from it to a disc. If you just burn the ISO itself onto the disc it cannot access them.

you can get a lot of the latest drivers from Chastity's page. I installed all the drivers available from her page and got the rest from my driver disc.
