    Hey there.
I've had my G73 (best buy edition) for about 8 months and I've yet to do any updates to it. Looking at this forum, it seems like I've missed alot!

It's running just fine right now and I want to make sure it stays the same, so I was wondering if someone can help me out with links/info on what I should update (if any) and how to do so?

    Thank you!

Why do you need it if it is fine and fast as you say?

However you can buy an SSD (If I'm right there are 2 slots for hard drives in G73?). wait couple months and try to buy Intel 3-rd Generation SSD if it will be cheap enough. You can wait even more actually.

you must have 6 Gb RAM right? I don't suggest you to upgrade to 8. it helps nothing.

That must be all. (not including processor I7-740m if you have I7-720m but it is very expensive and you don't need it so much but if you want spend 300+ backs)

It is great gaming laptop (especially later version with better CPU 1.7 Ghz). I did not buy it only because its design is childness I think and it had slower 720m CPU at that time.

I'm talking about ASUS updates. Not upgrade my machine.
Its 8 gb ram. TB HD. I'm only talking about the system updates.

Check the stickie on the forums to check your CPU / GPU temps while gaming and also update the vbios / bios if you are experiencing any issues with your system.

The only real determining factor for upgrading the system is if you are having issues.

    If it ain't broke....

install the newest bios and vbios (for example mine or Chastity´s). than you can use the newest drivers for your hd5870. also install the newest realtek hd audiodrivers and seagate momentus XT firmware for your HDDs.
all this should increase performance, temps, time on battery and overall stability.
