    Halfway through repaste

    Opened up my g73 this evening. Posting on my phone. Not getting paste until tomorrow. She's all stripped and ready for paste application, diassembly went without a hitch. I was going to lap the heatsink tonight but it's not possible on this cooler because there is a ledge that's higher than the copper heat plate. But oh well. Noticed something interesting that hellcry and chastity may be interested in. My video memory was manufactured by samsung, another user reported seeing a different brand in his g73. Also, the paste was in pretty bad shape, very dry with some air pockets. Can't wait to get everything back together, that was fun!

    My RAM was from Hynix if I remember correctly. I haven't seen a GSOD yet. Am on 10.6 drivers for a while now.

    Are you talking about your VRAM or regular system RAM? A lot of people have Hynix for regular system ram (I have Kingston).

    Not to brag, but I really have never run into a GSOD with any combinations of 206/209/211 BIOS and stock/10.1/10.7 Catalyst drivers, albeit my G73 had severe overheat-to-shutdown issue before repasted...

    Same here, I went through 2 GSOD prone G73s prior to this machine but this one is pretty much as good as it gets (aside from the poor heat dissipation).

    Ugh, I'm sitting here at work waiting for FedEx to deliver my damn thermal paste. I'm starting to worry it won't come today.
