I swapped out the Hannstar for a few weeks for AUO B173HW01 V.0. Sure was nice and bright with the AUO. I think the AUO was degrading and hurting my eyes though. The viewing angle for watching tv on the web was getting really bad. The screen would have to be tilted forward much more than I would like or the picture would look holographic. I don't know if this is the screens fault but whenever in a tv show they pan the camera side to side wow it was hard on the eyes with that screen. The last strange part about that screen when the screen is black sometimes I would see impressions in the screen like lines etc. The AUO probably does vary from screen to screen. I just put the original Hannstar back in and it does have its problems also but would like to see if it is easier on the eyes for a while.
This one is HSD173PUW1 Rev: 1-A00
It is not a great one maybe because the "Rev: 1"
What one is concidered the really good Hannstar? I see there is a model
thats just called "HSD173PUW1" and one that is "Rev:.0 A00"

This Hannstar has pretty bad backlight bleed around all 4 corners. It is only about half as bright as the AUO. Colors are dull and White sucks.

So if you buy an Asus G73 you could end up with a bad screen???

Could someone post some pictures of how they are different?

I would really like to see comparison pictures... Because I have Hannstar and don't have any problems with any above described! Maybe it could come latter in use!

I have heard just a few talk of this, but I have not seen this issue.
On both types the 1080 and the 900 screens both have been really
good as I have seen. I have the 900 one and most of the ones here on the base have the 1080 , and there is no back light bleed . And on mine I have not seen the viewing angle of the screen out side of most that I have seen on other systems. But that just may be how I see and look at the screen.
