Before we go too far, this is a simple question: Has anyone actually done this? Not in theory or manufacturer specs or... ? Just, has anyone done it and been successful?
I see 16gb going for $90 on Amazon and would love to make the jump.

Nobody? Really? Has no one upgraded...or tried to upgrade their G73?

G73, uses the HM57 chipset, the first gen core i7 series cpus? If so 4gb sodimms are the max, correct me if i'm wrong but i believe its only the snd and 3rd gen i series cpu's that will accept 8gb sodimms

And that is where you are wrong, the SW is Sandy Bridge which means HM67 and it can take 8GB SODIMMs, as a matter of fact, it seems like some clarksfield notebooks play nice with 8GB SODIMMs while others don't, that doesn't mean that 4x8GB will work, but 2x8GB works on some Clarksfield notebooks apparently.

Sorry missed the JW part,
Have you upgraded your G73SW with 8gb sticks?
