ASUS G75VX laptop - I have been using this laptop for a good while and all of a sudden the headphone jack isn't working. While messing with audio settings it worked for about a second. Unfortunately I was messing with the jack at the time that it worked so I don't know if the problem is the jack or Windows.

I have enabled and disabled the audio devices with no luck. I have re-installed the Realtek drivers. I even did a system restore (after I disabled the Realtek driver and couldn't reactivate it through the interface).

I was just using this headphone last night without any issues and hadn't unplugged or installed anything. I closed the laptop (sleep mode) and opened it back up. No sound. Still have sound from the speakers if I unplug my headphones.

Is the jack loose? When you plug in the headphone does the headphone makes that electrical noise during contact?

You may have set the audio to 5.1 or 7.1 which turns it into an output rather than an input.

How do you set the audio to 5.1 from 7.1? I am also having this issue with my laptop.

This requires 4x audio jacks to work, but this laptop has only 2 audio jacks.

    To activate multi-channel support:
The Right click on Volume mixer icon on the system tray, select "Playback devices".
Right click on "Speakers" and select "Configure Speakers", change "Audio channels" from Stereo or 5.1 to 7.1.

    Speaker/Headphones (Green) = Front Speakers.
Microphone (Pink) = Center & Subwoofer.
Line In (Blue) = Rear Speakers.
Line Out (Grey) = Surround Speakers.
