Hey Guys,
Is it normal or typical to feel heat when you rest your hand on the right side of the keyboard (Gpu) after playing games? Or do I have a faulty fan![]()
Thanks
-
Its normal. It is a performance laptop after all and that part of the keyboard (including the right speaker area) gets slightly warmer after use.
I idle @ 63-64C and it does indeed warm that area up.
Sitting directly opposite the flow of an aircond lowers my idle temp to 53C, and aside from numb fingers, that area cools down.
Looking to invest in a cooler soon.

As long as you feel heated air blowing out the back, the fan is working. It's normal for the keyboard to get warm, not blistering hot, but warm.
Yeah, me too. I don't really need one now, but with summer approaching, it certainly wouldn't hurt. Thinking about getting the Zalmen ZM-NC2000. You? -
I'm kind of interested to hear about how external cooling will go for the G73. I'm sure a laptop fan will do a little, but isn't the intake on top?
-
I originally thought so too, but it's main air intake is underneath. I've had some success lifting the back with a 1 inch diameter stainless steal rod.
-
I've heard on countless occasions about your stainless steel inch in diameter rod Kalim. Do show me a picture of your rod will you? If I remember correctly it even swivels.
Either that or a ThermalTake Massive. Since I've read some G73 users also using the same. -
Yep, it allows for easy swiveling.
It's not the best picture, flash shows the dust, but here ya go:
I considered the Thermaltake Massive23. The things I didn't care for was the fixed angle, steep front edge and it's made from plastic. The Zalman has an adjustable angle, has a thin front edge, it's made from pure aluminum and has an adjustable fan. The Zalman is also more expensive. Beyond that, only the people who own either of these knows for sure.
