    ASUS - Laptop / Intel® Core™ i7 Processor / 17.3" Display / 8GB Memory / 750GB Hard Drive - Black - G73SW-BST6

Is a laptop from bestbuy that ive had my eye on for quite some time it really seems like a great purchase but there is also another laptop very similar to this one being sold on newegg.

    Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G73SW-XN2 Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 17.3" 8GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M

so far the only differences i am seeing between the two is that the bestbuy version has a bigger hard drive while the newegg version seems to have a better version of gtx 460m graphics card that has 1.5gb of video memory where as the bestbuy version just has 1gb.

both laptops seem like great machines but i would like to hear some opinions of people who really know a lot about computers and can tell me which is the better buy. both laptops are within 10$ of each other so price really isnt an issue i just would like to know how big of a difference there is in missing out on the .5gb of video memory that the bestbuy version seems to be missing.

i guess right now i am leaning more towards newegg because of the video memory
but then again bestbuy is 5 minutes away from my house and if there were any problems with the machine it would be all to easy to take it back....
    SEEEEE!!!! im stuck help!!! lol

According to people who owns both versions, the 1.5GB GTX460M is approximately 8~10% faster than the 1GB GTX460M version. Also, the BBY version only has 1 year of warranty, while Newegg one has two.

Personally, I'd recommend the Newegg version if you can afford the higher price.

TBH, I'd get the newegg version.
The one from Bestbuy has the crippled gtx460m with only 1GB ram that means only 128bits memory bandwidth and only 16rops instead of 24

thanks guys, new egg version it is! and it is actually 10$ cheaper than the bestbuy version so that works for me, the newegg version still only has a 1 year warranty though i just checked.

They have 1 year accidental damage warranty and think the two years standard warranty by asus still applies.

Newegg all the way.... Beter all around......

Returning for service sucks, BUT, best buy has to send it out anyways.

So you made the right choice...

Makes me want to sell my Best buy version to get the Newegg version...
