Hey everybody, i found this website after much research into the ASUS g73 gaming computers. I think ive narrowed my search down to two different models.
The first one is the G73JW-XA1 with these specs.
Amazon.com: ASUS G73JW-A1 Republic of Gamers 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop - Black: Computer & Accessories
1,449.00$
i7-740
8G RAM
GTX 460 Nvidia card
750 GB HDD
DVD drive.
Full hd (1080p)
The second is the best buy model that just came out. (G73JH-BST7)
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+...lack/1257894.p?id=1218243761956&skuId=1257894
Its 1399$, but can apparently be haggled down to the older price with their price matching system. (I think it was 1119$?)
i7-740
6G RAM
ATI 5870 Card
640 GB HDD
DVD drive
1600x900p screen.
The main purpose will be gaming/school work.
Ive heard on here that the smaller resolution actually allows it to run games better.
will a computer with a native 900p screen run the same as a computer with a native 1080p screen, scaled down to 900p?
Still any word if the best buy model comes with a backpack/mouse?
Is 6GB ram that much different than 8GB?
I hear that the ATI card preforms better, so im thinking that the second choice should be a pretty decent gaming machine.
Just wanted to get opinions and ask some questions. Thanks.

NONE of the BB models come with Backpacks or mice, as it's been lamented about on the forums for a while now.
As for which resolution? I love my 1600x900, and think the 1920x1080i would cause ME personally no end of troubles.
Help between two ASUS G73's
