My friend bought a G73JH and was mailed over to him in Iraq. It was dropped by a military delivery plane. Might be a contributing factor which is why I mentioned it.
Problem with the laptop is that when you turn it on, sometimes you get a post while other times you do not. The keyboard lights on, then turns right off. My buddy made the mistake of opening up the laptop and receded the CPU. Pretty sure he voided his warranty. The times when it does post, Windows will not run, it will simply stay as if it's cycling through all the boot drives (blank screen with an underscore blinking)

    Any ideas?

Try reseating the hardware, like HDDs and such, and check if any wifi cables caught the reset button.
