Can you elaborate on what happens when you boot up? Firstly take any discs that you have in the DVD drive out because it sounds as though its picking up the DVD as the first boot option and you need it to skip the DVD and move onto the HDD with windows installed on.

You can also hold F8 during boot to access the boot options and go into windows in safe mode if you are having problems.

As above can you access the boot menu to select safe mode by holding F8? It sounds as if you may have a problem with your boot.

Try going into F2 setup/Bios and making the primary HDD the first option on the boot menu.

Regarding the sound it if it is turning on ok and the screen is working it sounds like a software issue but its hard to say could be one of many things even your HDD could have conked out but if its registering that is unlikely.

Ok this is quite simple but best to rule it out - unplug the AC and take out the battery turn her over and undo the 2 screws on the panel at the back and whip it off and check that the HDD is connected properly.

ON THIS PICTURE THE PRIMARY IS THE ONE ON THE RIGHT IF YOU HAVE 2 HDD

Restart and keep hitting F8 it should still allow you into a list that looks like this:

You can then select Safe mode and it should allow you to get into windows.

If all else fails you may need to run System repair which I believe is F9 during boot otherwise ALT F9 allows you into the Factory Reset menu and completely reset your computer (THIS WILL RESET TO FACTORY/DELETE EVERYTHING)

If it is finding the HDD and there is no clicking sound its doubful that its a failed HDD although it could be corrupt/damaged.

From your description looks like hdd died. Othervise you would get either MBR (master boot record) missing or corrupted message.

If you hit constantly esc button under powering machine up, how many hdd`s get detected?

As i said I doubt it has died you may have lost all your personal data but you will be able to do a Factory Recovery.

During Boot Hold ALT and F9 and this will take you into the factory partition and allow you to reinstall it to new.

    YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA.
