Hi guys, it´s my first post, but i´m a usual reader of the forum.
in may / 2011 i bought a g73sw - xt1 on a CompUSa when i was in US traveling, and it worked fine in games like Mass Effect 2 , and witcher 2.But since november/october it started to flicker and go BSoD, with some other games. Today i´m kinda trying to play skyrim, d3 (beta) and bf 3, but when i start playing, like 3 mins after, it just flicker and die, but sometimes if i just press a litlle below the spacebar ( with a certain amount of force) it goes on normally, but normally it just freezes in a green/red pattern.
I´have done a clean install, with all the new drivers, includindg the new nvidia, already tried the throttlestop, the memtest, and downloaded the nirsoft software, that says that i´m having a bug on "dxgkrnl.sys", i wanna know what to do, since im looking in all foruns, and all places and everywhere people just RMA, but im in brazil, and brazilian asus is not supporting me, so it not really an option, i´have read somewhere it´s just a problem with the power supply or the ac cable, anyone can help me please?

really sorry for any grammar errors

Hi @Briokossauro - Unfortunately, pressing on the laptop to get it to work correctly is usually indicative of a hardware problem (in your case, something involving your video adapter or display). I'm afraid you'll need to consider the RMA option or find a qualified local shop that can do the repair.

Have you tried plugging in to a known clean and properly grounded power supply and attempting to reproduce your issue?

And how is the procedure, i send it to asus, or to the Compusa, a how to get back, or do u think it´s better to skip the warranty and try to fix it here in brazil?

the temperatures were around the 70c

I know it may sound crazy, but deinstall latest drivers and get the 275.33 ones. I updated to them and it was a mess, and also a friend got them (on an Alienware m15x with 460m) and he got different problems than mine, but still rolling back to 275.33 gave us back our laptops working perfectly.

I had almost the same freezes you have, the only difference is that the last sound would loop with garbled effects.

Download DPC Latency checker, I will give you a direct link:

    URL REMOVED

Just Google "DPC Latency", clic the first page that appears, and download will be available after the 3rd paragraph in the main text.

I deleted the link since I think you already downloaded the program.

Now, as soon as you Log in your G73, open that program and let it run. It will monitor your latency caused by drivers. My G73SW-XT1 was ALWAYS in red, with stock drivers and everything. I had to try a lot of different drivers until I found the perfect ones. With the 275.33 Im ALWAYS in green. Only when I come back from sleep I get a full red line, and then it stays green (since the laptop is resuming and loading everything, the red spike is understandable).

So my first recommendation is to start trying nvidia drivers. Also, NEVER use the Power4Gear stuff, always run on High Performance and make sure to edit the setting so that your CPU is always at 100%.

Post results after doing this, please. I know it is time consuming, but believe me, after fixing this I've been extremely happy with my purchase.

Please do so and report your findings! I have to add that I tried 8 different nVidia drivers until I got this right, so remember: Faith is the last thing to lose xD
