Hi, I know there are numerous threads on the topic but I'm in dire need of help. I got my G73 today and in 3 days I'll be leaving the country for a year so I won't be able to have it serviced if I run into any problems. I'll be going to Jamaica so proper cooling WILL be an issue, its 30 degrees pretty much every day.

Following advice here I've uninstalled all the unnecessary bloatware, including creative and updated to ATI catalyst 10.6

Using CPUID I've gotten these temps:
    70 at idle
95 max while playing L4D2 on max settings

Running Furmark I get the grey screen with vertical stripes (assuming this to be GSOD) at about 102 degrees after five minutes - I can recreate these results whenever I run Furmark although the time it takes varies. Is this normal?

Thanks in advance for the help

Try seeing if stock 9.12 or 10.1 work better for you, though temps seem high. Mine will GSOD with 10.6 at less the 89C

Will play around with the drivers but should I be able to make it GSOD at will?

What I'm really interested in knowing is will I ever get to the temps I can create with Furmark while gaming? In a situation where the ambient is about 30 celcius and I'm playing a game for 10+ hours straight it seems like it may be a problem...

Well I'm getting a replacement, the left side of my keyboard has started to lift upwards. While there I'll have them make sure the thermal pads are seated correctly - hopefully this should fix everything for me.

On a side note: has anyone looked at the user manual? It's a complete joke, the index isn't even done properly...

dl the amd overclock tool and try overclocking your gpu to 705/1100. that should fix any gsod issues u have (that isn't very much).

    Or,

try updating your bios which has some risk to it. Check out my signature.

the overclock to 705/1100 works perfectly for me and I have stock bios (206 I believe).

Thanks but I just got a replacement that runs a lot cooler - four minutes with furmark would GSOD the last one at 104 degrees, running the stability test again on the second one, after 11 minutes its at around 102 and looking good.
