Hello, I'm new here and I thought to ask here since this seems very specific to the notebook brand and model I have which is an ASUS G53SW-A1.
I was planning to remove the 8GB out of this and replace it with a more better branded RAM, but after going through the unnecessary disassemble of the notebook to open the panel to the RAM, I only see one stick of 4GB of RAM.
I've been told in this video that there's another RAM slot behind the metal panel where the keyboard is:

He also said that removing the metal panel will void the warranty? Is that true? I really want to change out the RAM without voiding warranty.

Im not sure, But I just ordered 16 Gig GSKILL RAM from Newegg and I need to install it all. Im hoping that it doesn't void warranty.

I think removing the keyboard to get to the hidden stick will void the warranty.

LOL

You are replacing the 8GB of RAM in your computer with 8GB of RAM from a different brand? Don't do it. You are spending money and messing with your laptop for absolutely zero benefit.
-
That exactly, unless you have 4x2GB and you want to make that 4x4GB, don't bother with the stick behind the keyboard.
-
Don't think so, the warranty sticker is on the CPU heatsink.

Yep, you're right, the warranty sticker is on the CPU. We just caution those who plan to disassemble the laptop because any damage caused during the install wouldn't be covered by the warranty.
