    Hi all,

My son (whohas no made the G73 his own) wants to run it off of an external monitor. I have been doing some research and it seems we should not get any heat issues from runnning the G73 with the lid closed.

My question is. How do I stop the Laptop going to sleep mode when we shut the lid? Or will having it plugged into the monitor automatically enable this feature?

    Many thanks

You might have to set lid action to do nothing in the power options.

I really don't see why you are hinting at this, the magnet is there to determine whether the lid is closed or not, not what Windows does when it's closed. Here is what i was talking about:

Set it to do nothing instead of sleep, hibernate or w/e and you're set.

Remove the magnet? Never heard that before.

Right click the battery icon (bottom right) power options and then left hand side you are given the option to change "what closing the lid does" as Tijo said.

I find my m11x will still flicker when you close the lid but give it a second and it will display on the external screen, you need to go into the resolution settings (right click desktop) to select if you wish it to display only on the external screen, on both or extend across the two.

I made that option for permanent use , lol im sorry .
"in power options make it to do nothing when lid closes" i do it always on my notebooks , otherwise it would take much time to wake up.
