I keep my Asus G51vx (Notoriously Hot) very cool (about 82c Max). I will tell you how!

    1) Keep your vents clean- I clean my laptops vents every two days. I clean them by using my mouth and blowing as hard as possible on the exhaust. You will be pretty surprised how much dust can come out.

    2) Use a gel pack- I keep a gel pack, normally used for bruises, wrapped in a zip-lock bag. I put it on entire left side. This keeps my computer considerably cooler. Normally maxing at 87c, bring it down to around 80c -82c.

    3) Make sure you have some good Airflow - Use this computer in an Area that isn't crowded and cluttered.

That is how I keep my G51VX -RX05 Cool.

Putting it on a box fan does wonders! xD

    In all seriousness though...

Steps to keeping a laptop cool

    1) Repasting it with ICD
    2) Keeping Vents open and clean
    3) Laptop cooler (and a box fan DOES work)....
    4) misc. cooling mods (Modded back plates, copper blocks, etc)
    5) Keeping un-needed/unused processes off
