Weaker gpu? Isnt the 560m the same as 460m beside a newer core and higher clocks? Unless it's a 128bit version, then I apologize,my fault. But even so, having same gddr5, with a 940mhz on core it should quite kill the difference between 192 and 128 bit bus. It's still 140mhz more than mine.
But if it's not, we're talking about a huge difference in overclock, like 300mhz+ more compared to my card at stock.
It's great to see such performance on a similar card, but my point was that I'm happy with the results with my max oc. As I said I can't go higher than 800 otherwise gpu instantly crashes.
About what I said on your attitude im just stating my opinion, not trying to judge anyone. But you can't act like everyone is lying or faking things, it's not a nice thing to say, that's all.
Then I don't know what's wrong. Maybe because im still using Asus os, didn't bothered reinstall everything.
I can't go higher than 800mhz like some other users, the gpu driver will crash with anything above 805 MHz. Maybe it's a psu matter.
But take a look at this 3d: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/590096-gtx-460m-overclocking-2.html
Like me other people's can't go higher than 800. 825-850 usually delivers 16k+ which is perfectly normal. But for us stuck at 800 we can't do much I guess..
And yes I've updated intel inf as well..so if you have any tips I appreciate thatthanks in advance.
If you have time and patience, please do a 3dmark06 run at these clocks 800/1600/1600 and tell me what's your score. We can compare better in this way. Also about NBC scores the average is a little less past 15k, I'm almost hitting 16k with that overclock, if I'm doing math correctly then is what I should get.
As for the low res test, I made it for an user with the 3d panel that obviously can't do 1280x1024 on it.

Are you using GPU or CPU for PhysX ? at first mine was on GPU but later on I change it to CPU it is totally different of course it depends on CPU but now CPU working better than GPU
-
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Didn't touched the Physx settings but I left them default.
Anyway Physx setting shouldn't be important in 3dmark06 nor 11.
Just took a look at NBC gtx460m review. Average is under 14k, the best seems almost 17k on standard res, but the CPU is different 2820qm, which leads to an higher score across to all tests. -
-
I think you should try it in Nvidia Control panel.
When I changed, it was totaly different and I left it on CPU.
As you well aware in some benchmarks there are special settings button for force CPU PhysX. You will decrease GPU load for subject calculation, and sandybridge so strong for this.
My previous laptop was M51SN with 9500M GS and CPU was T9300, in that config GPU was stronger than CPU but with sandybridge, CPU is stronger than GPU. -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
But for 3dmark11 and 06 there's no place for Physx. I'll see what does changing the settings. -
it can be tested with MSI Kombustor I think which has special selection option. for 3dmark11 and 06, if you change from Nvidia control panel anyway it will work as CPU at all.
Nevertheless if we can find some solution to overclok voltage value of GPU it will be best.
Sandybridge CPU overclocking and Fermi GPU voltage overclocking still need a time for sure information. -

The only thing we can do is dump the vbios and try to edit it with nibitor.
-
nibitor didnt worked actually but today I saw some picture in one of the post voltage was 0.95 instead of 0.912 so it is really good to catch but core was around 500, anyway all the game plan on AC so battery will not be the issue but as I said nibitor not yet for me couldnt recognize I m still investigating

Was having issues with All Points Bulletin on my G73JW-A1. Seems like the game is very processor-intensive. An overclock gave me a bit more FPS to work with, but it wasn't as helpful as I'd hoped.
Overclocking the GPU gives me 50-60FPS in WoW with everything maxed but shadows and AA(2x). Dips to about 30 in AOE intensive fights and heavy flames. -
-
40FPS with the same settings. The transition between environments was especially noticeable in Northrend and Org. OCd to 800/1600/480 right now.
Haven't messed with the settings in Afterburner at all though. I probably wont until I'm a little more familiar with the temps I'm getting. I've got a feeling TidyPlates might be dropping my FPS as well. -
Hi guys, I have an Asus G53SW and have been playing games like CoD Black Ops, Bad Company 2 and Crysis 2. I don't think I'm getting any fps close to what you guys posted, I actually notice some lagging/stuttering while playing Black Ops and Dirt 3.
I did not overclock or install update the graphics driver. I'm trying to get higher fps in those games and I'm thinking updating the driver might do it, but when I go to Nvidia's site it seems like I can only install latest driver from the manufacturer. Since the latest driver from Asus is 267/268, how did you guys update it to 275? -
Download them from Nvidias Site? Or Chastitys driver page?
And check this out please; http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...3sw-owners-cpu-throttling-798mhz-how-fix.html -
Nvidia doesn't allow me to install it, it says the driver has to come from the notebook manufacturer, which is Asus. And the latest from Asus is 268.
Anyone knows how to update? -
Pretty sure ASUS doesnt force you into using their releases (least on the G series) like other manufactures.
G73/74/53 Series Driver and Application Reference -
Thanks for the link.
Yeah ASUS does not, but Nvidia does.
"The manufacturer of this system requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site.
The GeForce M series and GeForce Go series notebook GPUs use drivers that have been customized by the notebook manufacturers to support hot key functions, power management functions, lid close and suspend/resume behavior. NVIDIA has worked with some notebook manufacturers to provide notebook-specific driver updates, however, most notebook driver updates must come from the notebook manufacturer. Additionally, the desktop GeForce graphics drivers will not install on Geforce M series and Quadro M series notebook GPU's." -
M series, as in Mobile?
Either way, I know that the 280 drivers on that link will work. -
You should do great in those games,
I have a gtx 260m and i get 75fps on extreme. -
Yeah, the G53SW uses GTX 460M.
Has anyone tried installing that driver on their notebook yet? -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
What?
Guys g53sw/73 with gtx460m needs a modded inf to properly install otherwise it will report an hardware not found using plain drivers.
And yes, I've been updating my gtx460m with all latest driver releases up now with just a modded inf, just check my sig, I'm using 280.36dev drivers -
Hi Kingpinzero, I'm not very familiar with drivers can you tell me what the modded inf driver is? Where can I find them and how do I install the new driver? I know drivers are not like ordinary software where you can just remove them from the Control Panel and install the new one, there seems to be special instructions to update the graphic driver.
Thanks! -
Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Well the common procedure is to unistall the driver from windows like any normal application, restart then reinstall the new drivers checking customize installation->check perform clean installation.
However this doesn't remove reduntand and obsolete files that are still present in the system.
There's a specific way to do it in order to maximize driver installation and performance and you need a tool called Driver Sweeper.
Before that you have to understand how to mod a driver, which is easy to do, pretty straight forward.
- go to laptopvideo2go.com and click on drivers
- search for 280.36 and click on your os version (windows 7 x64 I suppose)
- in the next page click on download modded inf and download the file on your desktop
- then click on download driver and save it on your desktop
- once it's finished extract the driver with winrar (right click->extract to 28036_Win7x64 or something like that). A new folder will be created.
- inside this folder there are other folders; go into Display.Driver folder.
- copy and paste here the inf you downloaded first, windows should ask to rename or overwrite the existing file; overwrite it.
Now you have a modded compatible driver for your gtx460m.
Now before installing it you need to clean remove the existing driver.
- google for Driver Sweeper and download/install it
- remove the nvidia driver from control panel and when it asks for reboot do it
- after bios logo (Asus) hit F8 to go into windows advanced boot features and select safe mode
- from safe mode launch Driver Sweeper and check Nvidia Display and Chipset
- hit Analyze then Clean. After it will ask to reboot, do it and let windows load normally
- now you should have a Standard VGA adapter installed
- go into the previously extracted driver and launch setup.exe
- accept the agreement then select customize installation->check perform clean installation
- let the Driver install normally, accept to install it if windows says thats without digital sign.
- it should ask for a reboot, do it
- when windows will go back to desktop after the reboot you'll be on your newer driver.
To finalize the installation, right click on desktop->nvidia control panel->manage 3d settings and set:
Display mode to Single Display Mode
Power management to Prefer Maximum Performance
There you go. It's more easier and fast than writing it, when you begin to mod the drivers it will be a pretty smooth process to do.
Also newer drivers>old drivers all the way, unless something is screwed.
How are your G53/73 Models handling Games?!
