So the background is that my fan (left side) is constantly running at 5xxx rpm? as per SpeedFan; but the program doesn't let me control the speed.

    I've cleaned the fans.
I've tried the msconfig option to set the computer to start w/ 4 cores?
    I've tried SpeedFan

My next option is to flash the BIOS because the fans are at max as soon as I power on the laptop

For the G53 SW the only BIOS is "BIOS 203 First Release" but WinFlash doesn't let me flash to the same version.

    Any one have any suggestions/solutions?

Thanks for reading this and thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    So what are your temps?
    How old/new is the computer?
    Are you under warranty?

You should consider mailing ASUS support with your issue and asking them if they can advise you of a way to fix this without rma-ing it.

You can try to Flash it using the BIOS built in feature. Format a usb to FAT32. Place the ROM file on the usb. Boot in the BIOS [press F2] and go to "start easy flash" option. Select the rom file from the USB and that should do it.

Remember to use a FAT32 USB.

Can you access it in a DOS environment and use a command that will force it?
