    Hey all,

I am hoping to buy a Asus G750JX (Model No. Asus G750JX-CV069P) with Glossy 3D display available here in India. Can you please provide some feedback on the quality of this display (clarity, sharpness, brightness, color reproduction, contract, etc). I will use the laptop mainly for graphics and design work (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCad, etc). Also, how good is color accuracy on default factory calibration.

    Thanks in advance.

I had the matte screen on my prevoius G75VW and it was horrible man. like someone put grease on the screen, colors were faded and whites appear to have dotted colorful rainbow dots if u look close

Then I upgraded to this G750JX with the 3D/Glossy screen and whoaaaaaaaa what a difference. it's like night and day difference man. it is so crisp and colors are perfect! like real life as if you are reading on a real paper not a screen

I love it and it allows you to run on 120 Hz. refresh rate which makes things very smooth

The glossy panel is great. It shows great colors with perfect contract. However, the reflection is the big issue. If you are ok with the reflection, the glossy panel is the best choice.
The matte panel is not very bad, it depends on the brand and model. The panel on my G750JX is the ChiMei, which is too grainy. I really hated it. So I replaced it with the LG panel, which has only 44% of haze. The colors look nice and I can say it's like the glossy panel with no reflection at all. The LG panel is like between the glossy and matte panel. It's not so grainy and doesn't have reflection. I think the LG panel will be the best choice if you want to go with the matte panel.

It depends where you use it, position to the window, light outside. If you are mostly in a room that's a fair distance from the window and you can change the angle a bit depending it wont give you any issues.

get the glossy screen for god's sake I just shared my experience with you. Don't do the same mistake while you know the outcome already and that you will not be 100% satisfied unless you lie to yourself and make believe that it's ok. ASUS Matte Screen =- the sh!zn!t

The 3D screen is great and just as bright as my ipad with full backlight, aka VERY bright. Contrast is very good as well but out of the box it will require a bit of fiddling to get the whites calibrated properly.

Okay, I'm confused. I got my G750JX a few days ago from Amazon where it was listed as "nVidia GTX 770M 3G". For some reason my little pea-brain translated that "3G" into "3 D". So I was expecting a panel that could run at 120Hz, and that's not the case as far as I can tell.

So what the heck is "3G" when it's at home? Third generation? Of what??

nVidia GTX 770M 3G means nVidia GTX 770M with 3 GB of memory.
If you buy within 30 days, you might return it. Amazon has no problem when customer returns the unsatisfied item within 30 days.

Thanks, that explains it. I could wish they had used the usual nomenclature of GB; how much does a "B" cost? But I wasn't planning on doing anything with 3D, I had just hoped for the better panel. As this machine so far has had no quality issues and I've spent hours getting the partitions just the way I want them and loading software and games I don't think I'll be returning it. It was my mistake, after all - to be filed under "seeing what you want to see."

What do you mean by "B"?
IF you'd like a better panel, you might try to contact Asus. Sometimes they might replace the matte panel with glossy since some customers don't like matte panel. It depends on your area.
Or you can buy another panel and replace it yourself. That's not so hard to do so. I did replace the stock panel on my G750JX with the LG panel. It looks good so far.

I meant B as in Byte. I wish they (Amazon) had stated "3GB" as the video memory spec instead of just 3G which I mistook (my own fault entirely) for 3 D.

I don't mind the panel I have at all; the anit-reflection coating does give it a bit of a grainy look on a white page, but it's dynamite on colors, games, pics, movies etc. where that grain actually looks like smoothing anti-aliasing. It's vivid, sharp, and a pleasure to use in most scenarios.

You should be able to overclock the display of course ;)
