I'm just wondering. This laptop is already selling tons, but a lot of people report problems, which people tend to see and get discouraged to buy. So let's see the general consensus on the satisfaction. Explanations for choice is optional.

I, for one, am satisfied with the laptop. I don't play things like Crysis or Bad Company 2? but I'm happy with it that it can run my games on high. Most recent one that just ended, SC2 beta. It ran it on ultra pretty well. The problem for me though is how hot the GPU runs. Now it's running pretty decently after I took attempts to cool it down by downclocking GPU manually when I don't need the power, having my window open which makes me cold D:, raising the back a little bit, and lastly, the most drastic change, which surprised me, was updating the driver.

By updating the driver, when I was playing Borderlands, my temps dropped more than 10C. SC2, my temps dropped by about 10C, so I usually end up in the 80s nowadays for SC2 (in fullscreen mode). When I try to run SC2 in windowed mode maximized and I have it in the background when I'm web searching or something, the temps hit the 90s, which is confusing and unfortunate for me. I do run Aero, so maybe that's what's shooting me up so high. Unfortunately, don't really know what drivers I have. MY ATI catalyst says 10.4, but I believe that is wrong and was left over in the registry when I had installed official 10.4 (which GSOD me in borderlands). I have not updated to 10.5, but these ones are the most updated ones provided by Asus which has been running fine and dandy for me.

So yeah, pretty good all around laptop especially with my added Intel x25-m G2 80GB SSD, it's one of the fastest computers I ever owned. Not to mention with BCB, this was 1360$ and TigerDirect fixed my shipping issue by swapping my A2 order with an A1, which gave me a blu-ray drive... which is actually kind of useless for me right now because with a clean install, I don't have stock PowerDVD 9 anymore and can't really watch any up to date blu-ray movies, unless I want to pay for a license, which I had no reason for if I already have a blu-ray player.

Lastly, I kind of have a little issue that I did buy a laptop for it's power. It's a pretty big laptop and I don't plan to be very mobile with it, so I think it would have been a wiser decision to build my own desktop and just use my T500 for mobility.

I voted "Yes, but there are some things that could be better" only because I wish it had a Firewire port or a way to add one.

I voted ""Yes, but there are some things that could be better", since everything was fine and dandy until ASUS killed my keyboard lights with their BIOS "update".

Voted "Yes, but there are some things that could be better." because at this point everything seems to be functioning fine, except for the minimal lock-up events I face even after un-installing Creative software.

And ASUS could be a little more on-hand with vBios and Bios updates. I think I'm understating 'on hand'.

Also wish there was USB 3.0, but ah well.

Yes, but some thing could be better.

With all the issues everyone had, i'm getting kinda afraid to update my video drivers. Aside from that, i bought the laptop on may 25 so i've had it for only 2 weeks. So far i've not experiences any issues worth mentioning, i'll see as the weeks go by, GPU temps tend to go a bit on the hotter side compared to other users though.

EDIT: bios 209 didn't kill the lights for me (only update aside from windows update i've performed)

    Yes, but could be better.

The major problem now is they need to produce a better vBIOS for the Ati.

Also I think Asus is slow with fixing problems with this laptop. If you consider the problems the 209 BIOS fixed it is ridiculous how long Asus took to deliver that.

    I couldn't be happier now.

With the 1.05v vBios even my memory controller is holding steady at 82-83C and my core running around 72C. The OverDrive works awesome set at 800/1100. Now my GPU overclocks automatically when gaming.

I now have two profiles with short cut keys so I can switch between gaming and idle/internet/work.

    Just fantastic!

Wouldn't mind one of your nice how-to's on setting all that up. I'm a little timid about flashing the vBIOS.
