The TP is getting annoying now and i cannot stand for it.

The problem is i dont really feel too comfortable to open my laptop up bymyself...do i really have to open up the laptop all the way (take off RAM, wifi card, hdd's, etc....) just to be able to remove that damn foil?

I wish there was easy way for this....kind of too risky for the no experienced. :(

Whats the best/fastest way to remove foil from TP?

edit: Sometimes i dont think its the foil thats why i kind of dont want the risk this. Because my TP will act up and it doesnt respond (only sides) properly at all...but without moving laptop or anything a few mins later it will work fine...if it was the foil it would not be working fine ever...hmmm very strange. I hope i am wrong and it is actually the foils fault somehow but again until i get better instructions to do this im very hesitate on doing it.

its just an easy operation :)
you can follow BTOtech disassemble guide in youtube and remove the duct tapes and the foil and RMA wont fix it lot of members RMA for the same problem with negative results unless chastity fix it by her self.
anyway its just a very simple you will have to be gentle withe ribbons and the speaker connector cuz its very fragile you will take around 20 to 30 mis max to solve it your self and RMA will take weeks for nothing special.

Pretty much baby levels of easyness. Takes about 20 minutes if you can follow instructions.

As mentioned quite straight forward and IMO it was a more than worthy to fix the extremely annoying problem of the touchpad, I was so glad to remove mine and have it working properly I think my overall stress levels decreased and my life actually became better from that piece of foil ;)

BTOTech movie is good but take your time on the keyboard you dont need to bend it and the audio plug is a must for consideration when you attempt to remove it, lose your audio its a big problem.

Guide in my sig if needed.

    Thank you all and Yiddo.

I will follow your guide to rid my g73 of that damn foil. But looking at your guide it seems like getting to the TP is toward the end of the disasembly...step 9 of ten. oh man oh man. It would be great if there was a faster way to remove the top casing. It sucks that you have to remove a whole bunch of other stuffs before getting to TP but like alot say its worth it i just have to be careful. Good luck to me.

Removing the motherboard is the main part of the dissassembly, I have only done so many steps upto that point to make sure I cover everything thoroughly before people attempt to yank it out :) it should be a 20 minute job as you are only breaking down to the top cover which comes off once all the casing screws are out.

Just make sure you are 100% about the keyboard and audio plug and you will be plain sailing, once done and you know what you doing its an easy process next time round.

You know I think the biggest issue with us working on laptops is our own mental-block / phobia towards it.

We all rip into our desktops like nothing, doing whatever to them with zero fear. We build them mod them, toss a motherboard onto a nearby chair, etc. Imagine what people who don't know about computers must think when they see it. It must look impossible to them.

All I had to do was just get over that hurdle that it's the same thing, but smaller and with more screws. If you can rid the uneasy feeling of taking a laptop apart from your mind it really gets quite easy. I've had a dozen or so different laptops apart now and to date every single one has started up and worked great when I was done..... knock on wood.

So clear your mind, stay organized, concentrate and be confident that you will pay attention to detail and it's just a series of steps to accomplish. If it's your first time into a particular laptop taking digital photos along the way doesn't hurt.

I really think most computer build type people will be surprised at how easy it can really be.

    Good luck.

Go for it get it right first time round and you will be in harmony with a fully working touchpad, I found that just removing the silver foil was all I needed to do and mine was working spot on.

Yes I am still struggling to come to terms with the monster too, sadly it came with one tiny stuck pixel so I have to send it in for a new screen at some point I am loving it too much to do that any time soon though :D

Great news :) a good ending to your post then buddy and something so small and minute can cause the utmost of problems the only real thing that ruined my JH was the touchpad it made me so furious when it got stuck I feared for its safety haha ;)
