I have a G74. The only time I ever get to clean it is when I'm at work. I just use non-greasy Windex with paper-towels and an airgun to blow into the corners, ports and the exhaust. And then I use the airgun to blow off the pieces of paper.

Soft cloth with 3M - Screen Cleaning Kit 6 oz. Spray Bottle for the screen.

For everywhere else regular Windex or some gentle surface cleaner, be careful thought to not to spray directly on the laptop surface. Always spay onto the cloth first and then swipe the surfaces.

Use a high power air blower into the exhaust vents to keep them clean and efficient in heat dissipation.

I prefer to use a microfiber cloth and a little of Invisible Glass

I use a wet-wipe (nothing too harsh) once every month to clean the surface and screen. Makes the matte surface squeaky clean, every time! Dont exactly know the long-term side effects (too lazy to look it up yet).
Can of air spray to blow out the vents and the corners and voila!, Just like new!!
    Hope this helps :)

you can also use a damp microfibre cloth. It works quite well

I use a damp paper towel for the surface and let it air dry. When it's done I usually use a brush to clean off any remaining dust, for the vents I use an electric duster.

I use a microfibre cloth that i make damp with water. Works well. The problem I'm facing now is that my ROG logo on the right side of the palm rest below the numberpad has started to fade. The logo is visible but the writing has almost disappeared. :(

This blower is a laptop gamer's best friend :)

Amazing air pressure, busts every spec of dust from the vents. Best used against the flow of air from the exhausts when they are both (GPU/CPU vents) running.

Against? When the fans are running? Wouldn't that spoil the fans?

I use ArmorAll natural finish detailor protectant to clean the rubberized areas. Unlike the normal ArmorAll it's non-greasy. Also it's designed to be used to clean and protect plastic and rubber so it might help long term.

Its not that powerful to blow the blades :) , but we are just using aerodynamics and pressure differences to blow the dust completely outwards. If you use it while its idle your blowing the dust inwards rather than outwards.

But i read that when you blow in compressed air through one vent while the laptop is off, dust and stuff blows out through the other vent. That made me think there was some kind of connection between the two vents for that to happen.

The vents are independent, I don't know about the G74SX but the G73JH/JW the vents are independent.

I have tried it that way and I saw the dust was going back into the system the results were not so good without opening everything up. But I found running the fans and then blowing into them causes an area of low pressure on the side your blowing causing more air to rush from side the laptop to vent out from the other corner of the same vent your blowing into.
