The license key is the code on the microsoft label on the bottom of your laptop.

Yes the long one. It will say "Product Key"
    g73jh-x1=another version of g73jh
I think g73jh from best buy goes by g73jh-bst7.

I did a clean install on the 2nd day of owning the laptop :D The first thing you should do is collect all the different drivers you will need. Hit the sticky if you need a newbie fresh install guide.

I've done clean install on my current laptop which isn't a g73.
I bought one but still waiting for it to ship. When I get it, I'll do a clean install.

Like Chastity said, you need to collect all the needed drivers. Save them to a flash drive or a disk.
Driver package here: Driver Package Clean Install
Windows 7 OS Download Guide and use the "ISO Method" for clean install here: Legal Windows 7

    pambozs too much questions :D
    just do it
you don't need to call anyone just put the key from the back of the laptop when it asks you
and about the applications you can always install them again and again

then you can call microsoft and tell them that you have succesifully installed their OS :D

I did the same thing since I had an extra SSD that I wasn't using. I had to call the 1-800 number to register my license key though.

Yes you can use the key - it's your key. If phone re-activation is required you will be prompted with the required information...the phone call is automated and painless. I survived it many times :)

I found I only needed to do the Phone Activation once. My recent JH reinstall activated over the Internet nicely. So the first time you activate from a fresh install = phone activation. Afterward, it should work online.

The Driver disc is a copy of the one supplied with the machine.

What driver version is installed for the display adapter (you can check in device manager)?

Did you install the full suite or just Catalyst Control Center (CCC)? Only the full suite has the driver, and rarely does one need the individual CCC installer download...

i uninstall ATI CATALYST INSTALL MANAGER on control panel. then suddenly my SCREEN GOES SMALL like 800 x 600 then the color blur.... after that i just chill and relax... restart and install this ATI Catalyst? Mobility Display Driver

after i install and restart... it remain the same(800x600) and the maximum resolution is like 1100x xxxx (forgot) after that i panicked and just System Resore

Yes, because you're just installing the CCC application, NOT the driver. As you've seen, CCC doesn't work without a compatible driver. And without the driver, Windows doesn't know the capabilities of the display adapter so you get standard VGA resolutions like 800x600 etc..

The driver is in the full suite download, so get off that "individual downloads" tab and go to the packages tab on the left and get the "Catalyst Software Suite"! :)

    1. Catalyst Software Suite.. should be the one be installed not the one on my link?

    2. so the method should be i uninstall ATI CATALYST INSTALL MANAGER on control panel
then restart and install CATALYST SOFTWARE SUITE?

You linked to the "individual downloads" tab, so if you installed the "Catalyst Control Center" download from there then you didn't install the driver. There's three tabs there - you linked to the middle one. Click the tab that says "AMD Catalyst Packages" and you'll see the "Catalyst Software Suite" download, which is the one you want.

No need to uninstall, just start the suite install. It will download the full suite then give you an option to install it. When you have a choice between "express" and "custom" install options, choose "Custom". Then you'll see a list of what it's going to install - make sure the driver is on that list and the little checkbox next to it is checked. It will probably show you already have CCC up-to-date. Note: I'm pretty sure choosing the "express" install will install the driver regardless, but in this case I recommend choosing "custom" just to make sure.

You'll know you have the driver installed when your display resolution goes back to native, CCC works again, and device manager reports driver version 8.812.0.0 for the display adapter.
