I dont have a G73 but my Envy 14 Beats edition has the same rubberized matte material where the palm rests are. I notice that the oils/sweat from my hands start leaving marks right there when I type a lot.

How do you guys deal with this? Just cleaning them every time or just leaving them?

Wash your hands? I dunno, I never have this issue. My hands are never sweaty or oily when I'm using the laptop.

I have sweaty hands too. Thus, I have wipe my hands more often in order to avoid those SWEAT into the rubberized palm rest and leaving the SWEAT marks.

Can I suggest surgery latex gloves... ?!

I don't know about sweaty hands but I do clean my laptop once a week, from blasting air into vents to cleaning all surfaces with regular alcohol which works great for me...

^ slim people can have the same problem, its not always a matter of weight...

anyway as for a more practical solution if you dont wanna use medicines, i suggest you use those disposable wipes/cleaning spray+microfibre, they have a alcohol-like solution on em which should remove the grease/sweat..

Also, the G73 is designed such that the palm rest remains very cool, so i doubt it many users have this problem so it might just be a problem with your HP..

Never used them over a longer time period I see....dude those things are KILLERS and your hands are soaked when you take them off, I use some light cotton gloves, they are supposed to be for gardening....but I hardly doubt anyone would actually use them for that, you might have seen them being used by jewellry shops or when the stores are showing off computers with shiny surfaces to avoid revealing the fact that they are fingerprint and smudge magnets before it's to late and you've bought it already

I just wash my hands and I keep paper towels by my systems that I use to wipe my hands off while playing if they get sweaty .
As to cleaning the surface I use the eye glass cleaner from Wal-Mart and that works fine, it does not have anything in it that will damage your surface, and it is great for cleaning the screen.
One thing though no matter what you do to keep the surface clean you will get areas that will wear more as you use the systems.

I wash my hands with soap and dry it up before using my G73. Actually, I don't even place my palm on my palm rest when I'm using my G73 because it's inevitable to have it sweat on the palm rest when when you use your laptop for long hours. As I have read some posts on this forum before, their palm rest have already discolored/faded due to usage (maybe caused by sweat especially by acidic sweat IMO). Of course, this palm rest is subjected to wear and tear.

What I do to keep the palm rest of my G73 clean as new is I use iKlear for cleaning it. My brother bought some of it from Texas to clean the screen but later on, we have found that it's good to use on the palm rest and on the top surface too (surface at the back of the screen). I just use my pointing fingertips sprayed or dropped with some iKlear to wipe the surface. To dry it up, I still use my pointing fingertips to wipe the wet off and then remove the wet off my finger with a clean cloth/micro-fiber.

Everytime I do this, stains are removed and the surface looks good as new. I keep on doing this to keep the resale value of my G73 as high as it could be.

The palm rests itself arent hot at all. Its just after prolonged usage and gaming that my hands get warm. My keyboard on my desktop is the same. I didnt realize that this would be a problem when I got this one.

Guess just cleaning it everyday will have to be the answer. Ill try to find one of those cleaners you guys are talking about.

I actually use a microfiber cloth, fold it, and place it on the palm rest. Works wonders and feels great.
