So I've been searching the forum for about an hour.

I've seen at least one tear down guide, but it doesn't show the 4th memory stick slot.

I believe I have 8GB (4 stick with 2GB 1066MHz RAM) in my system now, so I purchased two 4GB sticks of 1333MHz RAM from New Egg for $40 today.

Wanna know how to remove ALL the ram, and then just install the two faster sticks once it shows up.

Is there a thread that shows this? I swear I've been searching and I just don't see it. :(

The only way to get to that 4th slot is to dissassemble to the point that you remove the keyboard and top casing section of the notebook requiring the screws to be removed on the base under the battery and the DVD/BD Rom drive. People have said that you can do this without removing the screen I have only done it with a total dissassembly.

You also dont need to remove the HDD, RAM etc just make sure you are grounded and take your time with the keyboard and audio cable.

So not worth potentially damaging the system doing an almost complete disassembly. Just add the 8GB and use the 12GB. Even if the 4GB is slightly slower its not enough to make any noticeable difference.

It's not too bad of a disassemble. You do the underside, then untether the lcd panel. Then pop off the keyboard, and disconnect the 2 ribbon cables. Undo the trackpad ribbon, and the audio connector (careful!), and the other ribbon cable I forget what it does :)

Then you can pop off the top and get full access.

Yeah I know, this is like instructions from a Chilton's Guide. "Step 1: Remove engine."
