    Hello there!

I've just bought ASUS g74sx. I have Windows 7 OEM preinstaled on magnetic HDD (750GB) and I would like to install a fresh / clean version on my SSD. SSD disk is already built in the unit so when I log in into Windows, I can see that there are 2 disks, 4 partitions OS (C), DATA(D), OS(E) and DATA(F).

BTW its strange that I have 2 OS partitions, dunno really why they set up it like that...

What I would like to accomplish is to install OS on SSD disk, and have partitioned ( 2 partitions) magnetic HDD for storage purposes.

I have a recently downloaded some Windows 7 retail trial DVD which I was told can be used to install OS but I really don't wanna mess up my laptop and need your help with that... Should I treat this case as a regular Windows 7 instalation process?, using ESC at boot up and setting OS DVD to boot up and so forth ?

Is there any step by step solution to my problem ? Any help would be great!

I would suggest you ask a MOD to move this post to the ASUS forum since people there would be able to provide more help. Though you are asking about a reinstall, looking at your drive setup, I'm assuming that you've forgotten to mention some things about your factory setup.

Any, you'd be better helped by people more accustomed to ASUS laptops.

As per installing on the SSD, it is just a regular install as long as you have the OEM key and are installing the version that the key corresponds with.

If you didn't install the SSD yourself and the Win7 was installed on the HDD, I would open the PC to verify that the SSD is installed in the 1st SATA port rather than the 2nd. You could always consult the place of purchase to verify how they would have installed it.

Win7 installs on a SSD just like a HDD, during install you can go ahead and delete any partitions on the SSD and do a fresh install on the entire disk.

I recently has to do the same thing on my G53, I dug into the PC, installed some memory, swapped the HDD to the 2nd SATA port, and put the SSD into the 1st. After installing Win7 to the SSD, I turned off Windows update, updated drivers via the ASUS page, then updated to SP1 and turned on windows update.
