Don't discourage the fellow... It's ok OP, the chances of you bricking the laptop are slim to nil, if you follow the instructions carefully.

There are 2 trians of thought on it flash from dos (usb stick) or flash using winflash update flash tool in windows. Both have a small chance of error to make your laptop nonfunctional. One thing that is important in both is have laptop plugged in to a solid electrical outlet never flash on battery power. If using winflash make sure you have the lastest version from the asus driver support site. Also make sure you have no programs runing in the background. If not completly sure you wish to do it then maybe try taking it to your local computer center that does pc work and have them update the bios for you.

    Fixed it for you.

And yes, placing the required files directly on the root of a flash drive and using Easyflash is the best method.

Fixed what? I have used both ways on many computers over the years and have never had a fail from either so as I stated there are 2 trians of thought on this pick your posion.

His point being there are significantly more examples of people bricking their systems using winflash; so much so that the preferred method for most of us is the BIOS-based utility built in to the laptop bios (no bootable usb stick (just a stick with the BIOS file in the root directory) required when updating the system BIOS) or the Bootable USB stick DOS method when updating the vBIOS on the GPU.

Note: I don't think there's any dispute that some people successfully use winflash.

    Cheers,

I used the USB dos method. Someone just bricked their G73 yesterday using winflash to update their VBios, you can see it a few posts down.

Oh. So updating the vbios also can brick your laptop? :S

Anything BIOS related is brick related.
