It should be sitting at home right now, still in packaging :) :), will do a quick looksy and possible review once i get home, but a quick question is should I boot it straight from the battery when I get home, or should I charge the battery for a couple hours then turn it on??? I dont wanna mess the battery charge up :).

Ive got another 4 painful hours left at my job before I can go home and slobber over my laptop, the hours are ticken by sooo slowly. But in all seriousness if i lets say plugged in the battery and plugged it into the wall and turned it on, I wont wreck the battery ? or should I charge the battery first ?

The battery will happily charge while you enjoy the machine's awesomeness :)

The real question is: How could you leave it alone at home?

My advice would be to plug the laptop in with the battery in it, and make a system image of the drives in the state you get them.

This will come in handy if you ever have to send your lappy in for repair, as you'll be able to restore your drives to their showroom condition.

You will also have a reference system for how things work "out of the box"

This will give your G73 time to charge well.

If you don't have some imaging software you can get Clonezilla for free and make a startup CD. ;)

Keep this original image for as long as you have your G73.

I always like to charge it up when I first use the laptop, then once its fully charge, and I got the system all set up, I drain the battery's and charge it up once more.

I was reading that LI-ion batteries do not need to be fully charged and fully drained when you first get them. According to those sources, fully charging and draining only helps calibrate the 'sensors' that tell you how full it is, and should not be done often.

Don't know how accurate the above is...just sharing.

Oh yeah don't drain the battery all the way often or if you don't have to, I just like to do it once after I get the unit like they said calibrate the sensor, because sometimes the laptop will show 98% or 99% charge and it won't go to 100% until you drain it once.

If it's above 95% when you plug it in, it will not charge the battery. AFAIK this is by design to prevent overcharging. :)
