I'm having some overheating issues with my gtx260m in my G60vx. I recently upgraded my cpu from a p7450 to a T9600. Before the upgrade my gpu would never exceed 82c while playing battlefield 3. Now after the upgrade the gpu reaches 97c! It's weird cause the new cpu runs about 15c cooler than the stock cpu. I've done a repaste and it had no help. I ordered new thermal pads to replace the old, dirty ones, but I won't be getting them for over two weeks. Not sure that's even going to help me out. Anyways, I have come to the conclusion that undervolting the gpu is a must. I want to know what I need to do to achieve this. I also want to add that i've done the typical cooling mods for the g60vx(cut blue fan wire, cut out the hole for the fan). I also always use a notebook cooler. Thanks in advance for your help.

First of all, try to update your laptop bios, because in my case (g72gx) I was on 402 and the cooler worked with the CPU temp (when it was less than 50C it was slow, 51-60 medium speed, and then high). Now I put the 602 (latest bios) and the CPU is running at 40-50 and the fans raise or idle depending on the GPU temp.
I told you this because the simptoms are that as the CPU gets cooler, the fan idles at the CPU temp is controling it, but the GPU is getting hot without controling the fans... It's a common faillure the designers made often, and then with a bios update fix the temp issues. Also you could run some software to control the fan speed to lower the gpu temp (speedfan do the work, and gpu-z is a clear gpu monitor).
As for the undervolt, I've just made it for my gtx260m and when it get's to windows gpu-z still shows 0.95V (even when I had lowered to 0.85) so I will keep locking for a solution, sometimes the gpu can still run without artifacts with a lower voltage (so less heat). -

Have you tried editing the vbios in nibitor?
