Not understanding how this works here. I extend my desktop to my 2nd screen and try to do my third on CCC, but I have to disable the other monitor. Can I only do 2 here or what's up? btw, i'm using the hdmi and the vga port.

As far as I know you can either use one internal + one external or two external monitors. The G73JH cannot drive 3 displays at the same time which is a shame for such a high-end laptop.

the GPU does. The specs have fine print:

" Actual number of attachable monitors will vary by notebook model"

So it doesn't matter that the asus G73JH has 2 outputs?

I imagine that has more to do with giving you options for what you use as your second screen, as opposed to suggesting you should use both ports at the same time.

Yeah and the fact that one of them is an old-school analog output makes it kind of obvious to me that it's not wired for eyefinity - or at least an eyefinity setup I would want to use :)

MarkS is correct on this point. While the GPU supports eyefinity, the laptop itself doesn't. Though according to ATI, laptops using eyefinity technology should begin showing up in the later half of 2010.

I'm so disappointed in hearing this... because I wanted to eventually use 3 monitors for my racing games.

Is there any kind of software that can push it to a extra third monitor or are we just s**t out of luck?

Wouldn't matter. No notebook GPU will be able to put out enough FPS at those res with decent detail...
    - The Envy 17" has eyefinity, but it's not that impressive. It uses the HD5850. So I guess you can get that if you are unhappy with the G73.

That's why even for desktops they have eyefinity editions with 2GB of ram and overclock/voltage mod.

Maybe asus will release a bios update to enable eyefinity? Wouldn't that be nice. I wonder if the hardware (not just the 5870m) is built to support it (mobo -> hdmi + vga and all that...)

That'd be a nice christmas present from asus.

With G73JH you can use Matrox Dualhead2go digital or Matrox Triplehead2go digital to use from 2 to 4 monitor using the vga out of the notebook.
