Let us say - hypothetically - that Asus launched ANOTHER G73 series ... this time the "G73So" for "Sound Option" and they gave you the choice of picking your speakers and sound card option. (I'll admit to NOT knowing much about sound cards, but I KNOW good speakers... )

Which would you chose for speakers from the poll, and what would you use as a sound card for them?

You just posted a list of brands, which mean absolutely nothing. Sound quality is dependent on the placement, size and quality of the speakers as well as the choice of audio chipset, not the brand label slapped on the case.

I'd expect something on par with MSI GX660.

sarge - the only brand listed that I know has their own chipset would be B&O's "ICEPower"

Altec Lansing. I would never pay extra for B&O or Denon. Don't care who makes the speakers, .75 inch speakers always are inferior to a good pair of headphones or just simply connecting to a decent pair of monitors. I spend money on a laptop for the core components not some gimmick speaker. I've heard B&O's Ice tech and it's umimpressive.

Agree w/ Ruckus. It's like having a high quality lightbulb. In a string of christmas lights. Mini christmas lights.

Although some sound solutions are better than others, I wouldn't pay ANYTHING extra for "beats" brand over altec lansing. Or whatever. It's a minimum threshold thing - once the speakers are good enough, the price premium to get a noticeable increase in quality just isn't justified.
