    My lord.

I have a G73 working PERFECTLY except in the past month the trackpad keeps getting worse and worse and worse.

I disabled multi touch, have the latest drive but it has a 2 second delay on anything I do plus seems to try and pick up movement when im using the BUTTONS??? The buttons???

Anyone find a solution to this garbage trackpad??

No I still need a real computer. You know for doing real/3d work on, not just screwing around on facebook. So thats not really a solution.

Unfortuntely, I think you've tried to fix a hardware issue with software. I recommend you PM Chastity about your touchpad issue and set up an RMA. Chastity is the "erratic touchpad specialist" at ASUS ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/8224916-post3.html)

Alternatively, you can fix the touchpad by installing a new one and paying particular attention that it is properly grounded.

LOL @ the apple post you might as well just burn your money as it will be out of date in 30 seconds.

There are several fixes from BIOS to physical changes and the one that works is to remove the silver film under the touchpad base and clean the glue off. You can either do this yourself or as mentioned contact Chastity and RMA it and have it done for you. I did it myself and it worked sound since I did. The irratic behaviour and it getting 'stuck' is due to the glue and or the static build up from the silver waste of space film under it. Or just a lazy developer when the JH was being made ;)

    Awesome Yiddo!

Happen to have some pics or a tut explaining how to do this?

(I already took the thing apart to repaste so im not a complete noob)

Like I said, it works amazingly except for the darn trackpad haha.

Sadly not my disassembly guide is all I have left of my old JH :(

It is quite simple though the silver film is on the underside of the touchpad which is connected to the top cover, you just disassemble down to removing the keyboard and then clipping off the cover and flip it over.

There is a silver piece of film with pieces of sticky tape all around the edges holding it down normally they are all over the place and poorly applied. Peel them off first and then gently peel away the silver film from a corner and you will come across two pieces of tape underneith which hold down the cables for the touchpad buttons. Remove the film and clean the underside to remove any residue left behind reassemble and see if it works for you. It did for me :)

If you've done the repaste then the hard part is over (getting the damn double sided tape off the bottom of the keyboard).

Although Chastity recommends taking the touchpad down to the green "breadboard", many users, including myself, have found it fixed 100% by simply removing the grey tape, remove the silver foil, clean off any residue hanging around, then reassemble without the silver protector.

The thread below has details and a pic, but no guide for going down to the circuit board. Sounds pretty self explanatory but I just did the tape and silver foil. Will go the extra step if it starts crapping out again!
