Asus - Laptop / Intel® Core™ i7 Processor / 17.3" Display / 6GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive - Black - G73JH-RBBX05
I wonder what brought on these price increases?
It must be because Toshiba is putting out a similar unit for a higher price.

When it was released for 1199.99 I thought that was kinda low compared to online resellers. Usually you get ALOT more for paying more. In this case at 1199.99 compared to RESPECTABLE online resellers with crappy Asus 2yr/1 Accidental RMA warranty(I've had awful experiences with Asus warranties in the past) I personally couldn't justify the difference.
But at 1299.99 this changes everything. At this point I think the resellers have the complete advantage. -

This has to be the reason:
1.
Toshiba - Qosmio Laptop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 18.4" Display / 4GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive - Omega Black - X505-Q882
$1,199.99
2.
Toshiba - Qosmio Laptop / Intel® Core™ i7 Processor / 18.4" Display / 4GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive - Omega Black - PQX33U-02T01R
$1,499.99
I still don't see how the C2D M11x can hang in there at 899.99.
I wonder if the online resellers will raise their price? -
I went to Best Buy a week or two ago when it was $1199. I went back a few days ago to buy the laptop and I showed the guy that the online weekly ad had it for $1199 still, though the store had it for $1249. He sold it to me for $1199.
EDIT: The Weekly Ad on their site still has it for $1199. Says the price is good until August 14. -
i dont know about you guys but this is the first time i see i electronic price going up in time.
i bouth this one because i dint find any laptop with the AMD Phenom II X6 XD -

I hope not
In the past I've owned Toshiba notebooks and had to RMA. I usually have recieved my Toshiba notebook back in less then 6 days with the problem fixed.
My 2 Asus RMA's took over 3 weeks and all they did was uninstall W764 bit HP(Validated) and installed Vista 64bit HP(Non Validated) to fix a failing GPU in both RMA's.....lol....what a joke.
I also believe that Toshiba notebooks are of higher/consistent quality. -

At this point in time I would choose Asus over Toshiba's Qosmio because the Qosmio's are too flashy with all that red. I think every PC has it's pros & cons.
I think that my M17x-R2 is perfect. My other half is constantly complaining about the noise coming from the fan....lol. I have a pretty decent setup in the bedroom but the M17x isn't allowed in the room after 10:00PM
It is nice to see a purchase gain value after purchase. -

Don't be surprised by the price going up. Best Buy's computer system will automatically raise prices on items that sell well. So this indicates that the items are selling and in demand.

Let me debunk some theories here, Asus wouldn't raise the price of their model if a competitor released similar models for a higher price, if anything they would leave it at the same price knowing that a knowledgeable consumer would discover this and buy an asus for cheaper, thereby increasing asus' sales and revenue. As for the theory about best buy increasing prices on items that sell well, their online sales system is actually much more basic than that, all the prices are entered in manually by hand. (Read up about the 10 dollar HDTV fiasco) Likely the component costs went up, profit margins weren't offsetting production costs or some other supply end cost change.

Still $1199 in St. Petersburg.
Put ASUS in as a search term and the laptop is the first one on the list. -

The TOSHIBA is not even in the same class with the G73 in my opinion.
Just the GPU alone would make me run away never mind how it looks. -

I can't say the same for my G73JH....in the end it really doesn't matter to me because I have a Razer Mamba, Razer Lycosa & Logitech G13 for all my mouse/keyboard needs. -

Great reason to buy an X5 from Microcenter instead.
I can't believe that the G73JH-05 has gone from 1199.99 to 1249.99 to 1299.99.
