My TRS broke in 2 and now its stuck in my laptop o_O

I can no longer use my headphones unless I somehow take it out. Shaking it or smacking it won't do it.

If you don't know what a TRS is, its the part you use for the headphone jack

It broke where I put the red line in. Any ideas on how I can get it out?

How much of the laptop will I have to open?

Did the whole thing snap off so you can grab the end with tweezers? Or just the end tip?

Yikes! You'd have to do a pretty good amount of disassembling to take that out and even then it might be hopeless. Have you tried using a somewhat powerful magnet to take it out? I personally don't know how harmful that may be but if your feeling brave you can try that out.

half of it snapped off (where the red line is). So the end part is stuck inside the jack. But I doubt tweezers would fit. I'll have to buy a pair.

A magnet huh....hmmmmm I dunno..... awww man. I don't think that would cause any damage.. its just a headphone jack. Also, I don't believe anything important is in that general area. but I dunno if I want to attempt that. Though its sounding like a good idea.

You could try putting some super glue on the tip of a toothpick or pencil, allowing it to dry on the TRS (5 minutes or so), and then carefully pulling it out. Be liberal with the glue, but don't get it in the jack itself.

No, No, No! No Magnet! A magnet will not get that out. But more important is that you never want to put a magnet next to any PC as it may mess up your hard disc data.

IMHO you would need a high powered electric magnet to see some harm.
Of course you don't should try to hold down a magnet on a running HDD.

A magnet wouldnt work because the jack is also metal and it would pull the plug to the jack more than it would the plug to the magnet.

Superglue is always useful for such issues, don't use very strong magnets next to a notebook.
