as in the thread object i found the bios bug and resolved it to resolve g1s shuttering over the 96°C..... if you are interested i can say that it's a cpu problem......
-
I havent been able to solve this issue no matter what I have tried, anything you could do to help me would be great!
-
Please do tell , cause i cannot update my video drivers anymore , the new drivers won't let me do the sleepfix
-
I haven't had the problem since I replaced the thermal paste; which keeps the temperatures in the 80's. However, I'd still like to know how you were able to solve it.
-
simply i found the problem in the bios, and i can say that is the same that causes the ustable fid and vid changes under rmclock if you cannot select higperformance level in os power management, and also this bug is now resolved with this mod.....
-
Do you think you could write a guide on how to do this mod?
-
-
sweet! keep us posted. =)
-
Sounds promising...
How is your testing coming along? -
ok, i have finished my test.... i modded only the v300 bios, but if anyone uses another version of bios it is possible to mod every version. i'm uploading the modded bios, but i want a place in the glorywall in the first page of the main topic of asus g1s if it works even for you.......
-
Yes, I will do that don't worry, as soon as people verify it works.
Maybe you should add a disclaimer in big red letters like "User-designed BIOS modifications, may brick your laptop, no responsibility accepted etc." -
Here is my modded bios, good luck!!!!!
Please note that this is a user-designed BIOS modifications, may brick your laptop (in my case it did NOT it), no responsibility accepted!!!!!!!!!

I will test it for you. Any chance you could post the changes you made? I'm extremely interested.
-
-
Can you elaborate on what modifications you have done to the BIOS before members try it out and risk bricking their bios?
-
in the simplest way i can say that i found a bug in the modules that describes the support for cpu models on our chipset, so i patched it...... no ask more, simply try my work and post your result please!
-
OK, here are my test results:
Firstly I copied the bios to my HDD and used the Bios Utility (f4) on POST to install it.
The notebook booted fine and seemed stable from initial impressions.
I then used rthdribl 1.2 and HWMonitor to test stuttering.
Now here is the interesting part.
The stuttering did not kick in at 96C BUT I left it running for a while and the stuttering did eventually kick in. This leads me to believe that maybe the problem is independent of GPU temp. Sometimes the frame rate was smooth at 96C but leaving it running for a while at this temp, and the stuttering kicked in. The CPU temp reached about 88C.
To make sure, I did this whole procedure TWICE. I am 100% sure of my findings. -
Thats too bad, I was hoping to finally be done with this stupid issue.
-
Here is another build, i modded some other things, in my notebook i noticed some other little improvemens, now seems that gpu slow down only in rare events, is there anyone want to try this version and post result and comments?? tanks

try this and let's us know!!!!!!!!Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Couldn't get release b to boot.
I'll try release c when I get time. -
now i'm trying to adapt the 8700m gt bios to our card, i'm at a good point........ news soon!
-
so has this been tried and proven?
-
Uh. Not really. Read the previous pages, one user tried it with mixed results with the first modded BIOS (i.e. stuttering still happened but at a later point), and failing to boot with the second.
-
This is the release with the 8700m gt adapted bios... in my case it works better than the original bios.....

So let's try and let's us know.....Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
In what way does it work better? The G1S does not have the 8700 so I don't see directly what the advantage of this BIOS mod would be.
-
less noticeable shuttering during the game, try and post your opinion, and the g1s not have the 8700m, it's right, but you don't know that the 8600m and the 8700m are the same graphic chip, anly different voltages and memory....
-
Has anyone tried the newest one?

Has anyone tried the newest one?

i really want to try this, but i'm afraid of the consequences. so could anyone confirm that it's working (and not destroying my pc)
-
ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
In my opinion, taking a leap of faith like this is potentially ill-advised and should never be attempted unless one either has what amounts to a disposable notebook or doesn't care about the risk involved. In addition, it is not clear whether Asus would honor their repair warranty in the event that something like this ends up making the notebook a brick.
My $0.03, anyway. The stuttering is a real issue with consequences for many users, but the consequences of a bad BIOS mod are catastrophic if something goes wrong...... -
Hi,
i am ready to try your modded Bios. But before i do this i've a question.
is it possible to make a Dumpflash from original Bios?
Do you use a Asus G1S?
Have you self positive testet on your notebook?
Your Videocard use DDR 3 Ram?
Thank for responding
I have found G1s shuttering cause and resolved (bios mod)
