Do not think it will run maxed all setings. The more i read about the details of the wildernes and the large areas the game has the more it i believe it will run on high but not max.

They recommend gtx260 or higher, ati 4890 or higher

As I mentioned in my G53SW 1600x900 screen thread, even Oblivion doesn't run perfectly at native resolution if you have mods installed and the settings cranked up. I am positive Skyrim will run pretty poorly on the GTX460m unless you tone down the settings quite a bit. Since your HD5870 is very similar in performance, I think we're in the same boat. :p

I'm actually considering upgrading to a Malibal p150hm with the GTX580m a couple of months after Skyrim comes out.

But that was because oblvion wasnt designed with quads in mind so it doesnt take full power of our cpus. our graphics cards were deff powerful enough.

It will be CPU intensive because of the large open spaces remember GTA4. However graphically it does look like a console port, the problem you are going to have is going to be bandwidth because of the very large amount textures that it will use. The recommend GTX 260 and ATI 4890 that are mentioned both come with double our bandwidth 120gb/s + than what the 5870M / 460M (64gb/s / 60gb/s) can produce.

It will be fine at 900 high so there is nothing to worry about.

I'll wait until release, but if it ends up looking like a console port, the PS3 is going to get skyrim, not the PC. If there's a demo, i might just download it to check how it runs on the G73 at 1080p. Even Oblivion can't run max on a G73 at 1080p, well the framerate isn't in the single digit, but still below 30.

Yeah I can max oblivion no problem. It is just the towns that give me low fps but it does the same on my friends desktop with a 2600k and GTX 460.

It depends if you are using mods which most do that is what punishes the frames in Oblivion at stock it runs perfectly but there are so many good mods out there it is hard not to mod it up before kicking off that legendary story.

I still remember the first time I woke up in that prison and Uriel Septim popped in :D

    P.s Erik! 920xm.....''cough cough''... :)

Hmm, then i'll have to try it again, i'm pretty sure the console (tdt command for debug mode) returned me a value of 27fps with everything maxed including AA.

EDIT: After checking with the Ultra preset, i get between 30-60fps with v-sync enabled. 30 with fireballs flying everywhere.

Is that with the latest update? I see a solid 60+ fps you should too Tijo that is a 2006 game the 5870M is as powerful as any card released in 2006.

Should be fine, I see no reason why it shouldn't be. The G73 still has a lot of life in it.

The game is up to date on steam, have you tried on a 1080p monitor? I get the framerate i should in other games though.

Yup thats on external 42 inch 1080p it must just be an update or something maybe try reinstalling if its an old installation. HDR used to be funny with me if I remember correctly. Roll on Skyrim :)

Yea i get a avg 54-60 fps on max in 1200p. I dont have any of the graphic mods anymore. i felt it took away from what the games was. i like stock everything except quest and stuff. also off topic i have a broke key that comes off when pressed. my computer is less than a year old. will they replace it for me?

Well, as soon as i got outside the place where i was, i now have a steady 60fps with the occasional drop to ~55fps. Might have had to do with the place where i was, i'm pretty sure i had the latest version, i downloaded the game when there was some deal on steam including brink, fallout and quite a lot of other games.

I guess everything is fine, except that my 20 years old rum bottle is getting close to empty, nothing like a glass of alcohol while you game (moderate quantities of course so you don't die because you're drunk :D). Well alcohol or tea ;).
