ASUS G51Vx-Rx05 120W AC Adapter Charger Power Supply Cord

This seems cheap enough and it claims to work for the laptop but would it be recommended and are there any possible alternatives that would be cheaper? I just need it to have the right size to plug into the back and have enough power to sustain a charge while it's on.

Specifically, my laptop has a GeForce GTX 260m, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26GHz, 500GB Hard-Drive, 6GB RAM, and Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Edition.

Check what is the voltage and amperage on your adapter and make sure you get one with the same voltage ± 0.5V and equal or greater amperage. If your adapter has a 3 prong plug, i would also get one with a 3 prong plus just to be on the safe side of things.

Well, the one I have (Which is currently not working due to damage) has the same input 110-240V~1.5A 50/60Gz but the output is different. Both have an output of 19V but the damaged one I have outputs 7.9A compared to 6.32A that the one on the website has. Would that be vital? Because I don't think the damaged one I have is the one that came with the laptop and the one on the site claims to be specifically for the laptop I have. Would 6.32A be enough to sustain a GeForce GTX 260m 1GB and Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26GHz? From what I looked up, the official cord is rated at 6.3A so certainly it would be enough?

Yes, the total output could end up being problematic. 19V*7.9A = 150W while 19V*6.32 = 120W. Those 30W will likely make a difference if you do anything intensive on the laptop. You could look at the targus APA05US adapter, you're sure to get the right tip (it comes with three different ones L1, L2 and L3) and it delivers 180W. It's one big power adapter though. Otherwise, look for a 150W adapter with the right tip.

If the damaged one isn't the one that originally came with the laptop, then you'll need a G51VX owner to chime in with what the stock adapter wattage is.

Not sure if this helps but, on the laptop, it stated that its input was "+19.5V=== 7.7A, 150W" and the battery says "Rating:+14.8V===5200mAh, 72Wh"

I just looked on Asus' website and it says output is 120W but that's for the G51Vx brand, I don't see any specifics for the Rx05 model. Think I can trust that? In fairness, the power cord on the website I was looking at has a 30 day money back guarantee so maybe I can just get it and then use some program to determine if it's getting the watts it needs?
