I have an Asus G73JH and it's been making a loud grinding noise for about 2 months now, it seems like it's coming from the fan on the right, i haven't opened it up to check yet but i did open it up about 3 months back to replace the thermal paste. I want to sell this beast of a laptop for something smaller since i've started college this semester so i want to fix this up asap. I've checked hardware monitor to see if it IS the fan but i don't really know how to read this thing. heres a ss of what it shows

i dont think the THRM is looking too good being over 100 and all..

    thanks!

i don't know how to read most of these stats but i see the cpu cores are running under 50 so that is a good thing right? and where would it tell me my right hand fan speed? i feel like theres something wrong with the fan itself..

I would say that you probably a temperature sensor going wild and it is causing the fans to spin at full speed hence the noise. If it is still under warranty, you should call Asus.

I had this problem in my N50, but i was out of warranty, i ended up disassembling the laptop, didn't find anything, but the problem just went away after i disassembles, might have been the EC going nuts for a while.

Right fan speed (facing the computer) is Asus G73 EC = GPU.
IGNORE GPU fan speed 30% that is not correct near bottom of posted image
Both Fans are spinning very fast (GPU and CPU) but temps are very reasonable, Tijo is spot on here!
