    now i got it to a overlcock of 2,050 mhz from 1.7 mhz. does this mean i now have a faster cpu than a 840qm at stock?

    Uhm, yes.
    2ghz instead of 1.7ghz as a base clock means that also your turbo boost as increased as well about 300mhz.
    As an example those applications that needs a faster processing power such emulators will benefit from it.

    thats great. i havent noticed any issues from the over clock and it didnt seem to increase temps over prime. i just hope it wont mess my cpu up. it seems like this is comfortable to my cpu to be at 2ghz.

    Nice overclock congrats. Back when I had the 720qm I could never get past 1.8ghz.

    Prime95 Using small-fft stress test for at least 1 hour
    Or intel burn test for the same amount of time.

    Fact is that setfsb overclocks the system bus speed which also dictates ram speed and timings, in short words everything is overclocked.

    Those two programs are the most known apps for stress testing the system.
