    Hello,

I am currently using G73Jh A2. It is an awesome laptop. It handle most games very well (although I only play FIFA 12 most of the time since it's the only legit game on my laptop lol) until I heard about this tessellation in DX11.

I downloaded Heaven DX11 v3.0, and I am stunned with how tessellation presents such an amazing graphics. 5870 in G73 is definitely DX11 Compliant, but it didn't really mean for it. Using normal level tessellation, I get about 15fps most of the time--which is annoying. 20-ish is acceptable, while 30 fps is visually nice from what I saw in Unigene.

I read some threads about comparisons between this and that. However, if I may bother you G74/75 owners, could you please post some results in Heaven 3.0? What I care most is the lowest fps you got. No offense, I don't believe benchmarking site these days. I prefer community opinions, like NBR.

This may be a good reason for me to get a more powerful laptop.

I prefer Asus since I found the performance to value ratio is good. Nevertheless, please post if you have any laptop better than G73Jh.

    Thanks.

The 5870M is one of the first mobile graphics cards to have Tessellation so it will not be as good as some of the newer cards. It performs better using DirectX 11 than the 460M but think it is about on par with the 560M or slightly lower at stock.

Heaven is a benchmark facility similar to how 3DMark works so you cannot go on the fps it achieves they are solely to compare to another set of results that is all, also it depends how high you set the tessellation. Only a handful of games can make use of Tesselation and on the older mobile cards it will struggle so most turn it off. The new revision of cards are going to be able to process Tessellation a whole lot better. ie 7970M GNC architecture.

P.s Fifa 12 does not use Tessellation :D

That's the reason I mentioned I used Heaven and 'normal' tessellation. so I can compare ;) Here's my detailed settings:
btw, I turned off antialiasing since I didn't find significant differences in Full HD resolution.

    That's why I lol'd when I mentioned it.
I tried Metro 2033 and 5870 couldn't handle it well when I used tessellation

Well for most hardcore gamers, visual isn't a priority, it's all about gameplay. But after seeing tessellation in actions, for me, it's something really cool to enjoy great gameplay plus smooth stunning graphics at the same time.

Here are mine. Stock 6990M with all settings High normal Tessellation x4 AF and 1080p. On Metro turn off DOF in advanced settings it kills frames the Tessellation should be ok.

Do not go on the highest and lowest because the benchmark is going to jump when it switches screens. The average is what you compare to as it gives an overall reading of performance give or take a FPS.

Yes the Clevo. I will run it again with my overclocks.

OOT: Regarding FIFA, it would be fantastic if they build tessellation into it. Like, sweating, real skin texture, or even seeing veins. But then, old machines will not be able to play it and the server will not be as crowded as of now lol

Exactly why it is not used or normally turned off because older machines will struggle things take several years before they are fully implemented but I agree it does make things look pretty awesome but Heaven shows it up because they use features that are clearly visible, in games it would bring down the performance too much.

Here is my overclocked amounts sig 850/1125. Not a huge difference but that is with my card running flat out so the extra bandwidth might not make much difference.
