    Hi,
I'm new. I've just had a narrow escape from buying an Alienware m15x as their customer sales service was awful and so I canceled it!

So, now I want to buy the Asus G73JW-TZ152V which most seller websites say won't be in stock until the 7th of December.

What is the likelihood of the notebook launching on that date?

Why doesn't the Asus website say Asus G73JW-TZ152V. Its only says G73JW??

    Thanks!

Asus doesn't list all the submodels on their site usually... they just provide a generic list of configuration options. It's like a puzzle -- hunt around the internet until you find all the configurations for your region. :) :p

If most resellers are saying 7th dec consistently, there's a good chance that's true.. always expect a delay on new ASUS launches though.

    Thanks!
I was kinda resigned to getting the Nvidia gtx 460m GPU as the JH versions only seem to have the i7-720 and no one in the uk seems to stock G73JHs anyway!

Basically, I'd like the i7-740 CPU with the Radeon 5870 GPU.

Is there a model with that config?

Yeah that's the G73JH-B1 model here in the states. Not sure what the model in your region would be. AFAIK it's discontinued though... I think the JH has stopped being produced. I'm not totally sure.

I found the G73JH-TZ224V with the 740, looks like it's a French model though.

Thank for the thoughts so far!

So, I am a gamer! Which is better the nvidia GTX 460M or Radeon 5870? I've read the radeon one performs slightly better but the difference is negilable?

Mate, the warranty is most probably a one year so I'd recommend you contact the reseller in case it was a typo. Also, no USB 3.0? That's the only thing I'm missing on my G73JH and they didn't put it on the new version? Pretty silly to be honest.

Its arrived today!!! With trial of starcraft 2, Steelseries Siberia headphone, bag and ROG mouse! Just waiting for the machine to get to room temperature before booting as it was very very cold from being in the delivery van all night!

What is it like mate? I am thinking about getting one. Also is the screen able to produce images at 120hz and did you get 3d glasses with it?

What can I say ! Its a desktop replacement and works as such! Beautifully! Plays Crysis no problem on high settings! The ROG mouse is good and the headphone are nice too (if a little odd looking and mic separate as v1 of Siberia headphones). I don't have a problem witht he trackpd for normal admin use (word, powerpoint etc).
Boots fast. The two 750 hdds are partitioned in half so four drives appear under My computer. The keyboard is nice and responsive with no flex. THe whole machine has no flex and very sturdy. Doesn't get warm either but does when used in bed sat on the duvet! The bag is well made too.
I got it from asuslaptops.co.uk, London. They did the job but I had to ask for the tracking number. They are also the chea[est that have them in stock but do add credit card surcharge which came to £33!
I have no idea how to produces images at 120hz and I did not get the 3D version.
My only gripe is the keyboard backlights periodically go off and cant be put back on. I have to repair the ADK package to get them on again. Asus live update doesn't work either but I hear that a common problem across the range.
    Anything else you wanna know!

And it works marvelously in Linux (Ubuntu 10.10 x64 as I'm not exactly hardcore Linux) too. :D
I actually bought CoD:Black Ops (as it was rated Gold for Wine) to test on both. Yeah, I know. Win 7 is going to have better FPS. But still...
Multiple workspaces by default is perfect for when working.
If you need Winxxx , pop it in VirtualBox on Workspace 3 (or 12). Linux can read NTFS even though Win7 can't read Ext4 filesystems and you get StarOffice, disc burners, movie editors, GIMP, stuff and more stuff.
Easy as pie to install. No real *NIX skill required.
If you have the 'blinky' screen. Switch (in the Nvidia gui) to high performance. Only adds 6 degrees to GPU.
