I've had it. When I finally needed it the most and saw that a touchpad fix package was available, I was ecstatic. When I finally got around to doing the updates, it was nothing but disappointment.

First off, Im not saying the TP fix package doesn't work, because many have already confirmed it does. But I know for a fact I have done nothing to contribute to it not working.

Using the zipped package, I update the BIOS from 209 to 213. Updated the ATI package. And updated the Synaptics drivers to 15.2.11.1. I thought everything was good to go, then the 'disable internal pointing device when external usb pointing device is attached' has gone bonkers. With the box checked, when I unplug my mouse, the touchpad wont work. great. As far as fixes, i've tried running Chastity's synaptics registry fix to no avail. I've also tried using the latest synaptics drivers 15.2.20 and still nothing. Ive completely uninstalled and reinstalled different drivers so much that I've lost count. So...just when I was finally just going to live with never checking the said box and just using Fn+F9 when I want to game.....I couldnt even do that. Because I started getting this pop up every few minutes:

Thats not even the best part....again, with the latest updates from the package, I thought the mouse-tp issue was all there was... I THEN find out that the TP STILL ACTS UP!!! Im talking, Multi-Finger gestures dont work outside of working 'somewhat' in that little 'practice' popup. The cursor would still have a mind of its own and scroll up, down, or left, when Im scrolling to the right. It would still randomly get that 4-point cursor (dont know what it's called) and resize all the text in my browser (firefox). Yup, same issues as I had before the fix package. It's like it didn't make a difference but give the Touchpad settings animated examples.

So yeah, now I have gone back to stock tp drivers, and keep my tp disabled 24/7. I'm done with it. At this point, I'm really starting to think that in my case, its a hardware issue.

To those of you that got it to work, more power to you.

adjust the synaptic's pointer sensitivity to 80%. This improved so much the usability of my TP!

From what i could gather, that message isn't simply a G73 issue. Also happens on my N50 which is using a different version of ATK. I found that the synaptics from asus' website doesn't give that message but you'll loose the multi touch. I would try it on my M40 if it was running windows 7 but it's on XP...
