I see lots of posts on this one but only with opinions and I was wondering if someone could give me some fact about the little blue button on my G73JH that makes my laptop turn into a Toyota Supra however doesn't seem to do much for me.

I understand the concept of Turbo boost in the I7 and I understand that the Twin Turbo only raises my FSB speed and overclocks my CPU clock.

What I would like to know is:

A: As the twin turbo only raises my FSB does this not cause a slower overall turbo boost/Affect my turbo boost capability?

B: Is it worth the 7oC raise in temp and no significant/noticeable speed increase?

C: Does twin turbo mode help single/multi core speed or multi threaded speed?

D: In your opinion does this actually benefit me during gaming or would this only be helpful for video editing/CAD etc?

I notice in some games a decrease in performance and a 3-4 frame rate drop with Twin Turbo active.

Twin Turbo raises the FSB to 143 (iirc), so each core theoretically performs above the 1.6 base clock. In the simplest sense, (as far as I can make it out to be in my experience anyway) is that it only improves performance in games that utilize one core. And even then, badly optimized games.

I see a noticeable improvement with, TT on, in framerates and response with the FIFA series and sometimes with Split Second. Basically bad console ports lol. But no effect or even negative effect, on other console ports like NFS:HP.

As far as video converting/encoding is concerned, Twin Turbo has little to no improvement on encoding time. You're better off using SetFSB to raise it beyond 145 to get any noticeable speed improvements

The general rule of thumb and consensus is just to let Intel's Turbo Boost handle the automatic overclocking.

Most users keep it off 95% of the time, and some even remap the button for other functions via AsusNBKeys, so no, its not worth the 7C temp increase.
